We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager, with a proven track record, to join us as at Church Walk Veterinary Centre, Cumbria, as our Practice Director.

The charming, bustling Market Town of Ulverston is famous as the birthplace of Stan Laurel, and is known as the “Festival Town”. The town has a cobbled Market Square, many specialist shops and several restaurants and pubs. The stunning Lake District National Park is only a 20 minute drive away, with unlimited options for hiking, cycling, climbing etc...making this a haven for outdoor enthusiasts! Junction 36 of the M6 can be reached within 30 minutes, giving easy access to visit Scotland and other parts of England.

You will enjoy working with our welcoming team and will have the opportunity to help drive our practice standards forwards, while supporting and motivating our amazing team.  

Reporting to the Regional Director you will have overall responsibility for the financial and clinical performance of the practice. You will also be responsible leading our team of veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, patient care assistants, receptionists and administrators.

The Practice Director role would suit a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse with clinical experience, alongside previous management experience. The ideal candidate will have financial understanding of running a business and be experienced in budgeting, P&L interpretation and have a vision to grow a business by introducing new services.

 

Other responsibilities to include:

  • To work in partnership with the Senior Vet, Practice Administrator, Head Nurse and Reception team to optimise service to clients and patients in order to develop the business
  • To deliver and maintain the highest standards of governance in relation to clinical meetings, CPD, clinical development planning and creating clinical frameworks, clinical audit and recording of unexpected clinical events
  • To be responsible for creating and delivering the practice budget with the Regional Director
  • To manage performance of the clinical and non-clinical staff

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to communicate clearly with a range of people at differing levels, deploying a range of techniques to do this effectively
  • The ability to energise, shape and direct teams
  • Proven experience supporting and developing staff to deliver business goals, preferably within the Veterinary Industry however this is not essential
  • Fluency in interpreting a wide range of financial information to inform decision-making & action-planning and communicating financial information
  • Other commercial experience including business development and marketing
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
