Milan Veterinary Clinic in Douglas are looking for a full time mixed veterinary surgeon to our team. We offer flexibility on caseloads should you have a preference on the range of species you wish to work with, from farm/equine work to small animals. We see a wide range of equine work and with our farm side its predominantly beef and sheep with some dairy work. We also have some pig and goat clients, meaning no day is ever the same with so much variety on offer.
Working 4 days per week (part time options considered)
1:3 Saturday mornings shared rota, with 2 Vets on each Saturday
On call is 1 night per week
OOH rota – bonus scheme offered for these shifts
Maximum 6 weekends per year worked
Up to £65,000 negotiable D.O.E
Relocation allowance of up to £5,000
Milan Veterinary Practice has been established on the Isle of Man for over 30 years. We are a mixed practice, with 3 branches across the island. Our main clinic is in Douglas, with branches in Castletown and Peel.
Our Douglas clinic has 3 consultation rooms. It is also where we do most of our operating. We have digital radiography, ultrasound, dental machine and in-house Idexx equipment. Castletown is slightly smaller. We do more routine operations here and have a dental machine and in house Idexx machine. Our Peel clinic is currently for consulting only. This busy clinic has just reopened following a move to new premises and a full refurbishment. We have an Easi-scan cattle scanner, as well as mobile radiography and a second ultrasound scanner for equine work.
Altogether we have a team of 8 Vets, so some are a purely small animal, and others are mixed. We are very well supported by our team of 9 experienced Veterinary Nurses and support team of 13 receptionists and administrators, we have a visiting ophthalmologist to whom we can refer complicated ocular cases. He visits the island every 2-4 weeks.
The Isle of Man is a beautiful place to live! With easy access to beaches and open countryside, lovely restaurants and cafes, there is plenty to do. The Isle of Man is very multicultural with people having relocated here from all over the world.
Must be RCVS registered, ideally with experience working in a busy mixed practice. Clinical coaching skills desirable to help support and teach junior vets. Confident in sole charge and experience in OOH farm/equine/small animal caseloads. Must have UK driving licence as company vehicle provided. Further certification supported and funding available.
The maximum income tax rate on the Isle of Man is 20% and there is a National Insurance freeze for your first year of working on the island.
