Birmingham – Vet Surgeon
Up to £65,000 DOE plus benefits
A work life less ordinary with Vets Now Birmingham
Located within a purpose-built, modern hospital, Vets Now Birmingham is a busy clinic that welcomes both a private and PDSA caseload.
Due to our continued caseload growth, we are looking to expand our team to provide more support on shift for all. Adding another Vet to our team will allow us to have a second vet on shift providing an excellent, supported entry route into ECC as you will work alongside another experienced clinician, creating the opportunity to share knowledge and work the more complex cases together.
Be part of a phenomenal team
Earlier this year we expanded our nursing team, meaning that we now have 2 nurses on at nights and weekends, and now we are looking to do the same with our Vet team.
Doubling our staffing levels at nights and weekends will not only make for a more manageable caseload, but it will create more time for development and mentorship opportunities and will allow our Senior Vet in the clinic to spend more individual time with the team.
As well as working alongside our highly experienced and fully staffed nursing team, you will also have the support of our fantastic animal care assistances and receptionists, and the ongoing mentorship of both our Senior Vet in the clinic and our Clinical Lead for the area.
Flexible working for all
Our Standard Full-time is based on 40 hours per week, which is an average of 3 shifts.
This includes working 1:2 weekends.
At Vets Now we appreciate that one size doesn’t fit all. This role is available from as little as 2 shifts per month, up to full-time, depending on what works best for you.
So, whether you’re studying for a certificate, looking to return to work, or just looking for a better work/life balance, We will work with you to find the role for you.

Company
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
