Job Details

Our Kennington branch is recruiting for a vet with flexibility on total hours, as we want to support a work-life balance. Set in a vibrant London location, only 4 tube stops away from the heart of London’s theatres, bars, restaurants, shopping, and museums. There is also an option of subsidised accommodation above the branch if required, so ideal for any vet wishing to re-locate from inside or outside of the UK.

You will join us as we develop exciting future plans within Goddard Vet Group as a whole and specific plans for the branch that will enhance efficiency as we continue to expand our patient numbers.

The rota is for three days in branch every week (or could be four), with a 5 p.m. on at least one of the days.  You will be working alongside our current part-time vet at least one day per week.

The role available is either an average of 32 hours or 40 hours per week depending on how many hours you wish to work (with an option to pick up additional shifts either on an ad hoc or a permanent basis in other branches but that would be your choice), and a 1 in 3 Saturday rota. There is no night work or on-call. To provide a mix between branch and hospital work and for you to experience working alongside our hospital teams, we would also like you to join the weekend Sunday rota (1:10) at our RCVS accredited tier 3 hospital in Wimbledon.

Our ideal candidate would be confident in GP practice, enjoy a busy environment with a broad and varied caseload, you should be confident in routine surgery, and love working as part of a team. This established practice sees pets of all ages so there is plenty of opportunities to use the in-house lab equipment and x-ray for diagnostic workups. We are looking for someone who can fit into our practice culture and values who will enjoy being supported by dedicated colleagues.

In return, we can offer a salary of £42,000 – £55,000 (pro-rata for part-time roles) depending on experience. The Goddard Veterinary Group offers a minimum of £2000 CPD allowance and sees CPD as an investment in the individual as well as for the practice. We are keen to support study for certificate qualifications. We have an excellent benefits package including increasing holiday allowance (up to 6 weeks), BUPA private health insurance as well as cashback/refunds on many routine medical costs such as dental care, physiotherapy, optician, chiropody fees, etc. plus a 24/7 employee assistance programme, generous shopping, and leisure discounts and a cycle to work scheme.

We have a great reputation for looking after our staff; over 20% of our team have been with us for 10 years or more and we are proud of our many 5-star employee reviews on Indeed. At the heart of it all, we really value our team. We have created a Colleague Forum to listen to our peers’ views and we have run many virtual Town Hall meetings throughout the pandemic giving us the opportunity to run live polls and Q & A sessions, ensuring we are making the right decisions for our people. All our senior managers are Mental Health First Aid trained and we offer Wellness Plans for all our new starters, so you know you are in good hands.

We are a forward-thinking organisation with big ambitions. We have developed our own successful contact centre to help ease reception pressure in our busy clinics and allow us more time to chat with our clients about their needs.
