The Role
Our White Cross Group is currently experiencing an exciting period of growth and development, and as result, we have a fantastic new opportunity available for a veterinary surgeon who would like to focus their career within a diagnostic imaging role. This role would be suitable for someone who has a certificate/advanced practitioner status and will be predominantly focused on leading and developing the diagnostic imaging service across the group.
At White Cross Vets, we have 21 clinics across the UK. All our clinics have teams with different interests, with team members undergoing further training and certificates, and those who have already completed theirs. Being part of something bigger offers a fantastic internal referral caseload at group level and allows us to grow and develop a higher quality first opinion pet care, whilst providing internal career progression opportunities. There may be the opportunity to progress in the future to lead a peripatetic service, therefore we would love to hear from veterinary surgeons who would be keen to develop and lead their own team based on the requirements of the group– although this isn’t a deal-breaker.
The role will be 30 hours per week, across 3 days - this includes travel time to the clinics. There is the opportunity to work additional days for a day rate if desired. Out of hours is provided by Vets Now. Our teams work-life balance and wellbeing are always a top priority at White Cross Vets, so if this is of interest, we’d love to discuss the specifics further with you.
The salary for this role is up to £60,000 depending on experience.
About Us
Our Clinical Teams all work in practices with great facilities including purpose-built consult rooms, separate cat/dog wards, operating theatres, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, alongside continued investment into equipment such as laparoscopic kit.
Our veterinary team enjoy all aspects of general veterinary practice and are looking for a vet with further qualifications in diagnostic imaging, to support them and lead the growth and development of the group. The successful candidate must be prepared to support less experienced teams with routine imaging, alongside providing a more advanced imaging service including abdominal scans and echocardiography. The successful candidate must also be happy in receiving radiographs for second opinion interpretation and reporting, there is also the opportunity to develop the scope of service provision within the group.
The team feel a vet with an additional interest in internal medicine or cardiology is of importance to complement the role and enable the successful candidate to provide strong clinical recommendations in relation to further diagnostics/treatment plans. As a group, we would support further certificates or an individual working towards advanced practitioner status.
About the Team and Culture
One of the best parts of working at White Cross is the enthusiastic teams who have a passion for delivering a high standard of first opinion pet care. As many of our team members are progressing within the group and undergoing further training/becoming certified, we are keen to develop more advanced services across the group, as we are experiencing a fantastic level of internal support/referrals. I would say all our teams are food lovers and regularly enjoy team nights out together, commonly bonding over a good meal. We do have some very “active” teams who routinely partake in activities such as kayaking, Park Run and our weekly Fitbit challenge. It isn’t uncommon to walk into a clinic and find a team in an Alexa dance-off, practising their moves for the dancefloor at our all-expenses-paid annual company get together/night away in Manchester!

We have always been built on strong principles, valuing people and pets above all else. But how did our practice begin? And who has been involved in making it the organisation it is today?
To find out, we need to begin back in the early part of the last century, before the second world war.
