The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse at The Wheelhouse Vets!

Here at Wheelhouse we are very proud of our nurses and encourage them to use all their skills and knowledge across all aspects of the role. You will have the opportunity to cover a variety of work in your designated area, with responsibilities such as theatre, wards, running nurse clinics and helping to train the next generation of nurses.

We like to start our day how we intend it to finish, organised. We hold a ward round in the morning, which consists of the clinical team discussing the plan for the day and any hospital inpatients they may have. This is a great way of sharing information with the team and allowing the time for professional discussion.

This is a flexible part time role of 24 hours per week working shifts such as 8am-4pm, 10am-6pm or 12:30pm-8:30pm. Ideally, we would like this to be over three days, but we can be flexible for the right candidate. We currently work on a set rota so shifts stay this same each week and will include one late night. No weekends or out of hours work.

The salary for this role is up to £16,000 depending on experience.

About Us
We are a first opinion small animal practice located in the picturesque countryside of the Chilterns, perfect for horse riding, cycling, and walking. We are near golf clubs and country parks like Wendover Woods, Black Park and Langley Park, all while being within easy commute of London. Our centres are fully equipped, modernised and RCVS accredited. We are always looking for new ways to achieve the highest standard of veterinary care in South Buckinghamshire. We have surgeries in Chesham, Chalfont St Giles, Amersham and Beaconsfield.

As a practice, we strongly believe in providing our team members with a nurturing and caring environment. We actively encourage and fully support team members’ professional ambitions by providing opportunities to develop with regular funded CPD. The excellent care and service that we provide to our clients and their pets is very important to us. A big part of being able to provide this is through ensuring that our team are fully equipped with all the tools that they need, working in the best possible surroundings.

About the Team and Culture

Our team is made up of 16 vets, 19 registered veterinary nurses, 5 student veterinary nurses and 13 reception staff. We then have an extensive admin team made up of Practice Manager, Team Development Manager, Admin Manager, Group Nursing Manager, Clinical Manager, Facilities and Cremations Manager, Insurance Coordinator, Office Secretary and Office Assistant. Our fully supportive management structure with 2 Clinical Directors and a Practice Manager completes our team.  We also have a full team of Heads of Departments running monthly catch ups.

We are very well equipped with endoscope, laparoscopic bitch spays, ultrasound scanner, DR and CR Radiography, Class 4 Laser, 3 consult rooms and in-house laboratory machines.   We have lots of members of the veterinary team either engaged in or have achieved certificates in oncology, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, dentistry, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, small animal medicine, feline medicine, and dermatology. We also have members of the team with a special interest in animal behaviour and dog training and of course wellbeing. As a practice, we actively support a number of different charities both locally and nationally each year including StreetVet, Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Applicant Requirements
The successful candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse who is looking for a Veterinary family in which they can grow and flourish.
