Calder Vets - Veterinary Surgeon – Brighouse

Calder Vets is a central Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital with 10 satellite clinics. We now have a fantastic opportunity available at our Brighouse site to welcome a Veterinary Surgeon to our fantastic team.
We believe in work-life balance and offer a great rota;

  • 40 hour week
  • Just 3.5 days per week
  • 1 in 4 weekends

Here at Calder Vets we welcome referrals from across Yorkshire and we are proud to provide our own 24-hour on site emergency care through our dedicated ECC night team. We offer a full range of primary care services, such as consultations, preventative healthcare, vaccinations, routine and non-routine surgery, dentistry and imaging (x-ray and ultrasound).  We are also able to offer some advanced services at our main site in Dewsbury, such as; laparoscopy, endoscopy, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, cardiology, ophthalmology and CT scans, and we have our own rehabilitation service with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and laser therapy.

We have a fantastic team across all of our sites and we all support each other. We often discuss clinical cases and get involved in social events. We have a large Vet team and are supported by fantastic nursing and front of house teams. 6 of our Vets are working towards certificates in Surgery, Imaging, Dermatology, Cardiology & Ophthalmology.

Our Brighouse practice is one of our larger satellite sites with 2 consultation rooms and a third to come in the coming months. The site is self sufficient with all of the equipment that you would expect of a first opinion site, including x-ray. This is a fantastic role for a Vet Surgeon looking for a rewarding position that can offer great rapport with clients, case continuity and the chance to work more independently but still be part of a larger group and network. There is a 2 Vet team at our Brighouse site (including a dermatology cert holder) and a fantastic nursing and front of house team.

Our ethos is clinical excellence and we try and live by our Core Values. Client and patient care is at the heart of what we do and we are proud to be a Cat Friendly Clinic. We run on 15 minute consults as a minimum.

Due to continued success we have scope for Veterinary Surgeons looking for the next step in their career, as well as for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to work towards a Certificate or a more experienced cert holder looking for a more specialised role, especially those with an interest in medicine or imaging.

We are happy to be part of Linnaeus with almost 180 sites across the UK and Ireland we are part of a growing community of like-minded veterinary professionals who are passionate about what they do. To add, Linnaeus is proud to be a part of the Mars Veterinary Health family of veterinary practices which extends our network of 2,500 veterinary clinics and hospitals in over 20 countries providing industry-leading pet care in over 25 million petcare visits every year.

Together, we are able to provide the highest standards in pet care and achieve our collective Purpose: A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS.

What we offer:

  • Excellent salary package commensurate with experience (incl RCVS fees paid, and £2k CPD allowance)
  • Linnaeus CPD Programme (including certificate holder level and leadership CPD)
  • £2000 welcome bonus
  • Wellness Programme
  • Staff discounts
  • Pension
  • 5 weeks holiday (plus banks holidays AND your birthday off!)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Eye Care vouchers

Company

Our mission at Calder Vets is simply this – to provide a first class personal, caring and professional service to you and your pet, backed up by some of the best facilities in the North of England.

We will do our utmost to provide and advise you on the best preventative healthcare. However, should your pet become ill we will always try and discuss all the available options with you; from basic, simple treatments through to more advanced tests and procedures, should they be required. This means you can make the right decision for your pet armed with all the information you need.

Our vets will always advise you based on what they genuinely believe is in the best interests of your pet. No one at Calder Vets is on commission or ‘performance related pay’, and never will be. All we ask our vets and nurses is that they look after your pets as if they were there own. The number of clients who recommended us to their friends and family is hopefully testament to this.

The nature of Veterinary Medicine is changing, but our practice is still owned by and run by Vets only. This is something that will never change.
