Job Details

Cambrian pic 3We are a family run independent small animal practice in beautiful Mid Wales. We are a first opinion practice and aim to provide excellent care for our patients and their owners. We are looking for 1 or 2 full time or part time vets to join our practice.

The Practice

Our practice is a friendly place, with kind staff and a friendly local community. We have 20 minute appointments as routine, and sometimes you even get double appointments. There is a mixture of busy and quiet days, which means that you have time to read up on cases, both before they arrive and after you have seen them. We encourage working up of cases in house and getting specialist advice, but also refer cases to specialists when needed. Our aim is to provide the best care for our patients and to build good relationships with their owners.

Location

We live in a beautiful part of the world, where the cost of living is still low. The area is safe and relatively crime-free. We are situated just outside Snowdonia National Park, the Brecon Beacons, Aberdyfi, just google the area! We really have beautiful walks, bike trails, beaches and mountains on our doorstep.

The Role

The role can be full time or part time. (Full time is 4 days per week with an equal share of weekend and on call work)

You will be expected to work sole charge a lot of the time, but will always have telephone backup. If you need more support, we can adjust the rota to provide this in the short term. Some experience is preferable, but recent graduates are welcome to apply.

The case load consists of a mixture of preventative care, medicine workups, acupuncture, surgical cases, including some minor orthopaedics, dentistry and emergency care.

Weekends, public holidays and out of hours are shared equally between vets, currently a one in three rota. You will get paid extra for any OOH call out or procedure (the OOH is generally quiet; an average of 11 call outs per month shared between the vets). You will have a Nurse/Nursing assistant on call with you.

Successful Candidate

•    You will have your patients’ best interests at heart.
•    You will have a keen interest in developing your skills.
•    You will be able to work sole charge. (recent graduate will be supported)
•    You will be able to deal with basic emergency cases. (recent graduate will be supported)
•    You will communicate well with clients.
•    You will be registered with the RCVS.

The Package
•    We will pay RCVS fees

Company

We are a family run small animal veterinary practice with surgeries in Tywyn and Machynlleth. Our aim is to provide up to date clinical treatment for your pets with the care and compassion that they deserve. We believe it is good to see the same vet as far as possible, so we can build relationships with your pet and with you.

We are a friendly 2 site small animal practice at the foot of the Snowdonia National Park in North Mid Wales. The practice has been locally based for the past 40 years. We started in Bryncrug, just outside of Tywyn, a very popular holiday destination. A second practice opened in Machynlleth, the 'alternative capital' of Wales, set near the CAT (Centre of Alternative Technology). About 4 years ago the Bryncrug branch moved to Tywyn.
