The Role
Here at Galemire Vets, we are looking for a Clinical Director to join our team. The role will involve taking charge of a busy small animal 1st opinion practice. The opportunities are immense as all key members are already in place. Initially full time is required as the practice has recently joined the IVC family but going forward part time may be an option. Weekend work maybe required transiently to assist inexperienced colleagues.
You would be working a 40 hour week over 4 or 5 days between the hours of 8.30am and 5.30pm, including one night on call.
Salary will be up to £75,000 DOE
About Us
We are a 2 site historically mixed but now small animal practice, based in a lovely old building at our main hospital in Cleator Moor plus a small branch surgery 9 miles to our north in Workington. The local area is largely rural with good access to the ocean & the mountains of the lake district national park.
We are comprehensively equipped with digital radiography, scans, scopes bp monitoring & full idexx laboratory to mention but a few. Infusion pumps are used routinely for in patients & we have a great nursing team & friendly ethic. Our Unique selling point is our location as we are blessed with a truly stunning outlook & a great place to be based for lovers of the outdoors. The nearest City is Carlisle approximately 1 hour by car or train, Newcastle 1 hour from there. Our local town is Whitehaven, a gem town with a beautiful marina & nightlife.
We are currently seeking new Vets & Nurses after the seismic shift from mixed to small animal practice. Currently 5 full time Vets with help from local locums. We have 3 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 5 receptionists & a clerical staff of 3. The successful candidate will take charge of our vet & nurse team with a handover period from the outgoing clinical director. In the past our various members of staff have taken part in sponsored walks /litter picks etc. Also, home baked products feature prominently in our staff room!
Applicant Requirements
The successful candidate will be RCVS registered with several years of clinical experience in a first opinion veterinary practice. You must be flexible, tolerant & helpful, but most of all be driven and a caring & empathic attitude towards animals, clients & staff.

In 1985 Galemire became a veterinary hospital, and now has state of the art facilities and equipment. The majority of our work is now of a small animal nature.
We now have two sites in Cumbria, the hospital in Cleator Moor, and our surgery in Workington
