The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team here at Ashleigh Vets, Chorlton!
The role involves inpatient care, operations/anaesthetics, consult team and nurse clinics. The role is based on a 40 hour week, with a day off in the week. Shifts are a combination of earlies and lates. Weekend work is Sat am/Sun am 1 in 4. On call out of hours is variable (paid overtime for this).
About Us
Ashleigh Vets has been proudly caring for the pets of South Manchester for the last 50 years and is fortunate to have a lovely client base and good reputation. With easy access to airports, motorways and city centre it’s an ideal location. Well equipped with usual toys (digital x-rays, video endoscope, ultrasound) we can cater for most patient’s needs. We pride ourselves on giving honest advice to clients, a high level of care, and NEVER work in a target driven way. We are a busy practice and also see a lot of exotic patients and exotic referrals.
Here at Ashleigh, we are lucky enough to have a really wonderful team. Everyone looks out for each other and has each other’s back, which makes a good atmosphere. Meet ups outside of work were commonplace when we were allowed! And I’m sure they will restart once we can. We want everyone to have a good work/life balance.
We are a team of 11 vets (1 diploma holder, 1 cert holder, 4 others sitting certs) - some do out of hours shifts on a rotation to provide 24hours patient care and an emergency service for our clients.
The vet is here overnight with an auxiliary nurse and will call in the on call RVN if they are needed for a procedure etc, a second vet is also on call for advice/ support. We also have 1 head nurse, 1 deputy head nurse, 9 RVNs (most have exotic qualifications), 3 SVN’s, 1 practice manager, 8 auxiliary nurses, 5 receptionists, 2 admin assistants.
Pre-planned daily rota so that everyone knows their role and area. Lots of training and support internally for this varied job role which involves admits, discharges, inpatient care, ops/anaesthetics, consult team, ward nurse, nurse clinics and client care. Includes training and support with exotic patient care and anaesthetics. Funded and encouraged CPD allowance for areas of interest including opportunity to study for city and guilds nursing of exotic species.
