The Practice

At Seadown we encourage our team to pursue areas of interest – whether that be in theatre, running nurse clinics or contributing to other aspects of Veterinary Nursing. Nurse clinics and the general expansion of the Nurse’s role within the Hospital / branch practices are areas we are looking to develop further.

We are a practice that believes in developing the bond with the client by building trust through excellent clinical care and dedication, but we also very much believe in the care and life balance of our team members!

Our commitment to our team and their career development means that further study is actively supported and encouraged with generous CPD time and finance allowances. Currently we have RVNs with diplomas in Anaesthesia, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine who are all home grown!

The Role

You will be working with a large experienced and friendly team (14 SA & 6 EQ Vets with 21 R&SVNs) in a well-equipped in a fully accredited SA Hospital, providing a dedicated high-class service to our grateful clients. Clinical work will include Surgical and Medicine cases with particular areas of interest actively accommodated.

We are a nurse training practice so if you want to actively participate in nurse training this will be welcomed.

The position will require a contribution to out-of-hours cover, which can be factored into the agreed weekly hours, as there is the equivalent time off in lieu of OOH duties in the same week.

Successful Candidate

A registered VN (or very nearly qualified VN) who will bring enthusiasm, new ideas, and actively promote the role of a veterinary nurse within the practice. We are a “family” at Seadown so being a team player is very important.
An Equine interest can be accommodated but is not essential.

The Package

Salary commensurate with experience, CPD (15hours / £600pa), 6 weeks holiday, additional holiday buying scheme, generous staff discount scheme, RCVN fees

Company

Seadown Veterinary Group is a 15-vet mixed practice which was first established in 1923. It has expanded significantly over the years and now has a purpose built and fully equipped hospital at Hythe for our small animal and equine patients. Our branches at Totton and Lymington offer a convenient local service for small animal consultations. The equine and farm animal vets provide an ambulatory service across the New Forest and beyond. We also offer emergency cover for our small and large patients at the Hythe hospital which is manned 24 hours a day. Our great veterinary team have diverse interests and specialist areas including an ophthalmologyreferral service, BAER hearing testing and consultations for exotic species.

We are welcoming, friendly, compassionate and professional towards all of our patients and clients. It is our promise at Seadown Veterinary Group that our well-trained staff will provide exceptional care from the first phone call through to the completion of any treatment.

We encourage our staff to keep up to date and pursue areas of special interest. We are proud to be a nurse training practice and many of our nurses who have completed their training at Seadown then stay with us for many years afterwards. All our vets and nurses regularly participate in ‘CPD’ (continued professional development) and many have obtained further qualifications through their hard work.

Veterinary medicine and surgery is constantly changing and moving forward, and we always make sure to keep up to date with the latest treatments and medication available.
