The Practice

Chess Veterinary Clinic has been offering a high level of Veterinary Care in the Hertfordshire area for the last 75 years. A recent acquisition to the Linnaeus group and the wider Mars family, we believe in providing excellent customer service and treatment for the pets and clients in the surrounding areas. All our practices are individual but two important things bring us together; a commitment to excellence in everything we do and our passion to make A Better World for Pets.

The Role

We are seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse for a permanent, full time position that is available for an immediate start. Part time and flexible shift patterns will also be considered.

We are a two-branch, first opinion practice, as part of the Linnaeus group, with the role mainly based at our Rickmansworth site.

Currently our team is made up of 3 FT Vets and 4 PT Vets, 2 FT RVN's, 2 PT RVN's and 2 SVN's, and a dedicated client care team of 7. We are a friendly, welcoming team that genuinely enjoy working and socialising together.

Our practices are well equipped, and our vets have interests in medicine, imaging and dermatology, which allows good opportunity to work up and treat a variety of cases, including some complex and ECC.

Our nurses have the opportunity to run their own consultations and their input into our patient’s care is highly valued and respected.

Working within a supportive team allows the opportunity to share knowledge and help further develop your skills and although the ideal candidate would preferably be comfortable in all areas of nursing, they will receive a robust induction to help ensure they thrive in their new role.

Clinical Coach qualification would be desirable, but not essential, as we would support the successful candidate in achieving this.

Shifts

5 days per week (8am-4.30pm/9.30am-6pm/11.30am-8pm).

Weekends are Saturdays only (currently 1:4). No OOH.

No OOH, no on call.

Benefits include:

  • Pension contribution
  • VDS Cover
  • RCVS fees paid
  • Up to 2 additional memberships (at our discretion)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Eye test vouchers
  • £500 CPD budget per year + 2 CPD Days
  • Access to over 150 hours pre-recorded CPD delivered by our expert clinicians and nurses
  • An additional paid day off on/around your birthday.

Annual leave: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
