Job Details

The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our established team. Responsibilities will depend on your experience as we have room for differing roles for our Vets. The role works across a 5 day week with a half day off if a night on the rota has been worked and a Friday off following a weekend on the rota (Vetsnow cover our OOH, so the OOH rota only covers inpatients and staff pets, nurses do late checks but would refer to the vet if concerned)

Weekends are 1:6 with the following Friday off, surgery runs from 8.30 -12noon on Saturday morning, phones go to Vetsnow at 12 noon, so weekend only covers inpatients and staff pets. (We would not keep critical inpatients over a weekend, they would be transferred to Vetsnow)

About Us
Tern Vets is a friendly, supportive and experienced team environment, we work across 2 sites 13 miles apart, both surgeries are purpose built and fully equipped with x-ray, scanners, laparoscopy, endoscopes etc. We also have a farm and equine practice working out of our Market Drayton surgery. Our cheerful and friendly team are partial to tea and cake, a good night out or in and a cuddle with any puppy or kitten that comes through the door! There has been a veterinary surgery on our original Market Drayton site for over 100 years. Our surgeries in the market towns of Market Drayton and Newport are approximately 1 hours from Birmingham and Manchester airports and half an hour from the larger towns of Shrewsbury and Telford. Sitting on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border the beautiful peak district and the Shropshire Hills are equally accessible.

Across both sites we have 11 vets (a mixture of full and part time), 6 qualified nurses and 2 student nurses plus 10 support team members. We have certificate holders in Small Animal Medicine, Cardiology, Feline Medicine and Surgery. The team has been involved in challenges such as the 3 peaks and the Coniston Challenge for charity and we have several keen marathon runners in our midst.

Applicant Requirements
We are happy to take on a new graduate or a more experienced qualified veterinary surgeon, who feels that they would like to work in a friendly and supportive team. We are happy to consider 1 full time or 2 part time candidates. We ask that you have a positive can-do attitude and have great communication skills.

Company

The Tern Veterinary Group, has been based in Stafford Street, Market Drayton since the early twentieth century. At first the practice was based in the small office facing Stafford Street with a farrier and stables further up the yard.

In 2000 the present partners opened a brand new building designed to cater for large and small animal clients. At the same time the branch surgery at Newport was opened to cater for our growing clientele in the area.

The surgery is located on the Wynnstay site on Audley Avenue Industrial Estate.

From the outset we have sought to provide the best care for both our large and small animal clients alike. To achieve this end, we are constantly updating our facilities and equipment to ensure that the level of care provided is of the highest standard for all animals.
