Veterinary Surgeon

The Role

McKenzie Vets are looking for a full/part time Veterinary Surgeon for a 15 month fixed term contract starting from May 2022. The position consists of consulting in a general practice, usually operating 1-2 mornings a week. You would normally get the same day off each week, working 40 hours over 4 days a week, plus one Saturday morning in 4 with an early finish the following Friday. There is no out of hours. Part-time or job share is also considered for a suitable candidate.

Salary up to £50,000 DOE

About Us

We have a small but well equipped, purpose-built surgery with 3 large consulting rooms, digital x-ray with brand new processor, ultrasound, class 4 k-laser, dental machine and extensive in-house lab. We try to work in a Fear Free way for our patients and are working towards Cat Friendly status. We are situated close to beautiful Loch Lomond and the National Park but within easy reach of Glasgow, where Vets Now provides our out of hours care.

We have 4 full time Vets, 3 Nurses, 2 veterinary care assistants and a team of receptionists to keep you right! Our strongest attribute is our fantastic team and the way we all care for each other while caring for our patients. We try to have fun while working hard and we recently had our annual Great Mckenzie Bake Off! We have a lending library of non-vet books for keen readers to share, and bee friendly plants around the practice. Our workload is varied and interesting with a few exotics if wanted but also easily avoided if not wanted! We take pride in trying to always do the best we can for our patients and their clients in a professional but kind way.

Applicant Requirements
The successful candidate must be RCVS registered and qualified, confident working in sole charge and has a passion for providing the best standard of care to our clients. Some experience is preferred with competence in general surgery and good medicine knowledge but we are a very supportive team who work together on challenging cases. Any areas of special interest can be put to good use!
