The Role
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team! The role is manageably busy with a variety of first opinion cases, assisting vets to the maximum potential of experience as well as running Nurse Clinics. One of the many diagnostic tools available is the Laser, which is under the direct responsibility of a Registered Veterinary Nurse. The successful candidate will be sharing cases and workload with several colleagues who have been with the practice across many years between them, each with a diverse range of experience. The role will include using state of the art facilities within a new clinical suite which was built only 5 years ago.

This is a full-time position working 4/5 days per week plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. No OOH. Salary is DOE.

About Us
The original practice has been established for over 170 years and has kept up with the times. The Brantham building was new in 1999 and substantially extended in 2016. It is situated on the Suffolk Essex border, one mile from a main line station, which is one hour from London. It is a peaceful place to work and situated alongside Constable Country. Facilities have been upgraded to state of the art with the new Clinical Suite including ultrasound, endoscopy, laser, digital X-Ray developer, dental X-Ray, Idexx blood testing equipment, as well as the usual day to day diagnostic tools. The multi-parameter monitor is in regular use.

We have a team of 7 Nurses and traditionally 6 FTE Vets with excellent support staff.. They are all flexible and team players, with the common goal of both looking after the client's pets as well as helping and supporting each other. There is 1 Certificate Holder at Hadleigh, 9 miles away and the Clinical Director at that practice has extensive orthopaedic experience. An external Cardiologist visits at least monthly.

Highcliff Vets has taken part in local Shows and Charity events and will return to them once they re-open. There is mutual respect for all, the philosophy being that everyone’s role is equally important, each simply has different responsibilities.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for someone ideally with post qualification experience but equally suited to a nurse who has just qualified and wants a fresh start in a different practice. A background in first opinion small animal work is essential. You will be enthusiastic to learn more, take on responsibility and want to build on current knowledge

Company

The Highcliff Veterinary Practice is a long-established reputable local practice serving south Suffolk and the Essex-border area. We offer many products and services to help domestic pets. Whether you have a hamster or a Great Dane, we are here to help!

The origins of Highcliff Veterinary Practice can be traced from the first half of the nineteenth century, from the Grimwade family of Farriers, Horse Doctors and Insurers. They lived and worked in Kersey, and as was traditional at this time, a horse's tail hung outside the house to enable clients to recognise the trade. This still remains today hanging from the eves of a house near the ford in the village. The practice moved to Hadleigh after the Second World War. Three generations of the Lemon family (George, Alfred and Donald), worked locally from 1870 until Donald retired in 1977.

By this time the practice had grown considerably. A branch in Ipswich had been established from partner Roy Hullis' home in St Johns Rd and this moved to new premises in Cliff Lane in the early 1970s. The name was changed from Lemon, Sutherland, Ryde and partners to Highcliff Veterinary Practice, the name deriving from the premises at High Street, Hadleigh and Cliff Lane, Ipswich.

The Ipswich surgeries have been under separate ownership outwith Highcliff Veterinary Practice since the Summer of 2014 meaning the practice is now composed of branches in Hadleigh and at Factory Lane, Cattawade, Brantham near Manningtree.
