The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Oakham Veterinary Hospital. With the clinical freedom to follow and work up cases to a high standard, and be involved in delivering a first-class surgical service, our vets experience a wide and varied caseload

About Us

We are a long-established, well-respected practice on the outskirts of Oakham, Rutland. Our purpose-built premises are set in 8.5 acres surrounded by beautiful, rural countryside. We have extensive hospital facilities and diagnostic imaging equipment, including CT and MRI. We are progressive and provide exceptional client care with an emphasis on case continuity.

A team of 9 vets, including certificate holders in cardiology, surgery, medicine and dentistry, ensure that, through their clinical skills and knowledge, we continue to provide excellent veterinary care across a wide range of cases.

In addition to being supported by a skilled and motivated nursing team, our vets are able to work alongside leading surgical and clinical specialists through our teaching & clinical association with the University of Nottingham Vet School.

Our vets are team players, enthusiastic and effective communicators, committed to providing gold-standard veterinary care

Candidate Requirements

3 years + post-qualification experience, preferably gained within a fast-paced environment. An interest in surgery would be advantageous.

A team player with effective communication skills and a commitment to delivering the highest standards of client care. Excellent clinical, diagnostic and medical management skills. Enthusiastic and motivated to add to our reputation.

Company

We have extensive hospital facilities and diagnostic equipment in both our equine and small animal departments offering a full range of veterinary care from routine vaccines, consultations and healthcare through to specialist referral work.

Yard visits are available for equine and farm veterinary needs and to enhance the service we offer to our Equine Clients north of Grantham we have a veterinary surgeon based in Lincolnshire. We offer our clients in the Northamptonshire area an equine service to their yards. 

Our team of experienced vets, nurses and support staff are continuously updating their knowledge and skills to bring your animals the level of care you would expect from a modern veterinary practice.

We are situated just off the Oakham bypass on Ashwell Road with easy access, and we have separate car and lorry parks.

Our 24 hour emergency service is covered by our own vets from our hospital premises.

In May 2010 we became clinical associates with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science giving us access to the expertise from leading veterinary specialists and substantially increasing our already 'state of the art' equipment range.
