Job Details

Veterinary Surgeon required at Gatehouse Vets, Bradford, West Yorkshire
About Us
Gatehouse Vets is a three-site group with one main hospital facility. Our hospital is a gold friendly cat practice and our Haworth branch has been awarded silver. We are a nurse training practice and part of the practice standards scheme with outstanding RCVS awards. All three sites are well-equipped with operating and lab facilities, including individual species wards (with additional exotics facilities at the Hospital and Bingley branch). Our new Bingley premises opened in December 2020 and boasts custom-built facilities including a new dental suite with CR x-ray.

Our clinical approach and practice ethos is to provide excellent staff, patient and client care through a culture of feedback and improvement with regular clinical and procedural audits involving the whole team.

We have a good mix of full and part time vets with varied interests; our clinical director has particular expertise in cardiology and critical care and two vets are completing medical and surgical certificates at present.

This six-vet team is complimented by our amazingly patient and invaluable receptionists and phenomenal nursing team; including diploma holders in emergency and critical care and exotics and feline behaviour.

We have a varied case load with most cases able to be worked up and treated by the team, including orthopaedics and cardiology and we see a good range of surgical cases. In addition, we have hospital facilities proving 24-hour nursing care, but out of hours duties covered by an external provider, arguably the best of both worlds!

Company

The practice was set up by a Mr Jordan in 1952. Mr Jordan accepted a Mr Edwards as partner in the early 1960’s and they then moved to the present site in 1965 from their original site which was at Green Paddocks in Pulford (now a private residence just up the road past the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel). The practice has been here ever since, has seen changes to the building, and partners come and go.

The practice expanded by setting up a branch in Chester (Wayside veterinary Surgery) and moved from the original Wrexham surgery (Pen-y-Bryn) to its current location at 2 Borras Park Road in 2000.
