Job Details
The Chair manages the Board and Council meetings, usually four times per year, via video conference or in London, liaises as necessary with senior figures in AMTRA’s member organisations and partners, and represents AMTRA at external meetings and events.
The Practice
AMTRA is appointed by the Secretary of State to act as the registration body for those people increasingly known as RAMAs (Registered Animal Medicines Advisors) and known legally as Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) prescribing and supplying POM-VPS and NFA-VPS medicines. AMTRA is a not-for-profit organisation, working since 1986 to support the long term future of the sector, managing the registration for about 7000 AMTRA RAMAs, and enhancing the quality of the service they provide and seeking wider understanding of that role.
The Role
The Chair provides guidance to the Secretary General with regular telephone and email contact between meetings of the AMTRA Board and Council. Financial summaries are reviewed by the Chair. It is expected that the position will be for three years, potentially renewable once.
Successful Candidate
It would be beneficial for candidates to have knowledge of veterinary medicine and the RAMA/SQP sector, of Higher Education systems and processes, and to be able to contribute to raising understanding of the role of RAMAs/SQPs.
