The Role

Exciting opportunity in North Wales!

We are currently looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team at our practice in Wrexham, North Wales. Full or part time considered. The role consists of working in a busy Veterinary Practice within a large team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Surgeons, Student Veterinary Nurses and Animal Nursing Assistants. We are a RVN Training practice with two clinical coaches on site.

You must make animal welfare your first consideration in seeking to provide the most appropriate attention for the animals committed to your care. This should be carried out using knowledge of animal physiology, nutrition and medicine with your practical skills to diagnose illness, prescribe medicines, and perform imaging tests, laboratory tests and surgery. To provide this care in keeping with practice and group policies. Duties include:

•         Examine and assess all inpatients

•         Write up all cases in full

•         Monitor hospitalised patients on a regular basis and communicate information to the Nursing staff, checking all pricing communicating back to the client

•         Inform clients of test results and update on progress after treatment

•         Positively communicate to all clients on progress, results, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options and costs involved at all times

•         Carry out house calls where requested

•         Start consultations promptly and avoid running over whenever possible

•         Consider referral of the case if in the animal's best interest

•         Provide clients with a high standard of customer care and service

•         Have a basic knowledge of the financial targets of the business and commercial awareness of performance both on an individual and practice level ensuring that all work is correctly priced and correct discounts applied

•         Comply with all policies relating to Health and Safety

•         Follow and apply all IVC group and local protocols and policies as may be issued from time to time

No OOH as we are host practice for Vets Now. Our practice is open between 8 am and 7.30 pm Monday to Friday and 8.30 am and 12.30 pm Saturday and 9.00 am to 11 am Sunday and Bank Holidays and your shifts would be between these hours. Sundays and Bank Holidays are on a rota with other vets.

About Us

Looking for a practice to join and grow with? We are a busy, fast paced practice and we are very well equipped with ultrasound, endoscope, bronchoscope, digital x-ray facilities and ECG and equipped with a large in-house laboratory facility. We are a host practice for Vets Now so no OOH and a Tier 2 RCVS practice.

We are close to lots of outdoor adventure stuff like surf Snowdonia, Zipworld and have easy access to great climbing, especially around Snowdonia and coastal areas. If you prefer a more leisurely pastime there is plenty of shopping with Liverpool One, Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, Chester all on our doorstep. Great transport links with both Liverpool and Manchester airport close by and Holyhead port not far away.

What about our practice?

We are a Tier 2 small animal only two site practice. We have a team of friendly and supportive receptionists to look after the clients leaving you time free to look after their fur babies. We have 10 Veterinary Surgeons, one with a certificate in surgery and one who has nearly finished her certificate. We have five RVN's one who is part way through her Behaviour Certificate. Two of which are clinical coaches for our students with one progressing to be an examiner shortly. We have two student veterinary nurses and a team of Animal Care Assistants, with one progressing to be an examiner shortly.

Our reception team consists of 8 members with another 2 in administration run by our Practice Director who is a VMG CVPM Certificate Holder. One of our administrators is our wellbeing champion who also helps with social events and practice groups such as our gardening group and organises social events throughout the year. As well as practice events each department also organises their own social events, like weekend dog walks. Unfortunately because of the pandemic our charity events have been curtailed, but we hope to get back to this in 2022.

MRCVS. Experience preferred, but with a wide range of experience in practice there is always someone to help.

Rhyd Broughton Veterinary Group is a very well established practice and until recently was perhaps better known as B. Harrison and Partners.

The veterinary practice is well equipped and well staffed. We have a total of nine vets including four practice partners. These highly qualified and skilled veterinary surgeons are supported by an experienced team of veterinary nurses, receptionists and office staff.

Our main clinic is conveniently located on the edge of Wrexham at Rhyd Broughton Veterinary Centre near the Wrexham Maelor Hospital just off the A483 Wrexham Bypass.

Our second clinic is in the centre of Wrexham at 55 Chester Street close to the Peoples Market and Eagles Meadow.

The level of veterinary experience and facilities available mean that we can offer your pets the highest standard of healthcare.
