Abbey House was founded in 1977 and has grown rapidly over the years. Abbey House Vets today is a large, busy first opinion and middle tier referral practice in West Yorkshire with four branch sites. We care for small animals and some exotics at our Kippax branch. We see referrals from across Yorkshire and have a fantastic caseload for clinical development. We are passionate about quality, clinical excellence, and patient care. Due to our advanced and varied caseload we can support most professional areas of interest.

Our fantastic 24/7 Tier 3 Hospital is supported by four branch clinics and has excellent equipment with CT, visiting MRI, 4 theatres, onsite lab, rigid/flexible endoscopy including laparoscopy, ICU, plus lots more! Three of the four branches have operating facilities. Our branch clinics at Kippax and Croft House perform neutering and routine surgical procedures along with x-rays and laboratory tests. All of the clinics have fully stocked dispensaries. We are also proud of our commitment to sustainability and are working towards our iiE Bronze (Investors in the Environment)

We have phenomenal day and night teams here at Abbey House Vets. We have a large Vet team including 7 certificate holders in surgery, oncology, ophthalmology & dermatology. We are supported by an experienced Nurse team and fantastic front of house team.

Our lead vet role will see you ensuring best practice is being followed across our branch sites, supervising and assisting more junior vets, setting standards, identifying any issues, working with other lead vets to drive in house CPD programmes, arranging CPD meetings, M&M rounds and clinical governance (VetSafe), and more.

This role would be based between our branch sites across West Yorkshire and would involve clinical and people leadership, helping with budgets and you will have a real input in the groups future plans. You might be a certificate holder already or be working towards one.

You will hold responsibility for overseeing the day to day running of the branches and will be assisted by the Clinical Director and two dedicated Lead Nurses.

Your role will include time for admin and managerial duties!

The right candidate for the Lead role will be an experienced Vet Surgeon who enjoy mentoring and supporting their team and who is comfortable with all first opinion duties.
