An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Summerhill Veterinary Centre, Norfolk. As a Veterinary Surgeon within our friendly team, you will be required to complete consults, diagnostics and surgery. You will be required to own your cases with the support of the team when required.

At Summerhill you will be encouraged to be the vet you want to be with support if you wish to further your skills and expertise. You will be working 3-5 days per week, which can flexible and we are open for negotiation on this. Hours of work 08:30-17:30, or 19:30 if wanted (but not necessary).

A share of 1:6 nights and weekends on call only, as emergency call out dictates. Nurse on call at same time.

We are a 6-vet small animal practice. We have 4 vets with certificates, in small animal surgery, emergency and critical care, ophthalmology, small animal medicine and diagnostic imaging. Nurses with certificates in behaviour, surgical nursing, critical care. We have dedicated operating theatres, consultation rooms, nurses consult and treatment rooms.

We encourage nurses to nurse and utilise their skills as nurses to the maximum. We perform wide range surgeries, soft tissue and orthopaedic with full surgical facilities and instrumentation, including arthroscopy. We have dental and normal x-ray- both digital, video endoscopy, flexible and rigid scopes, ECG, full colour doppler ultrasound, slit lamp, tonometer. Full lab facilities including haematol, biochem, blood gases, electrolytes, blood clotting. We are a single site with a team that encourages everyone to play to their strengths and assist each other, while offering the very best for all our clients in a compassionate and friendly way. We have 2 VetGDP advisors. We are 10 miles from the north Norfolk coast, near the broads, in market town, but close to Norwich and only 2 hrs from London by train.

Alongside our vets we have 12 nurses, 8 support staff. RCVS recognised advanced practitioners in Emergency and Critical Care, Small animal Medicine and Ophthalmology. Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Practice Sciences. Nurses’ certificates in surgical nursing, critical care and diploma in behaviour. We are looking for either a new or recent graduate or some-one with more experience. We would encourage the successful candidate to utilise all their skills and take ownership of what excites them, all support needed will be given.

Company

We are a 100% small animal practice, so care primarily for dogs, cats and rabbits. In addition we treat ferrets, guinea pigs and small rodents. Our sister practice Wensum Valley Vets treats farm animals and horses.
 
OUR LOCATION  
We are close to Fakenham town centre on Queens road, near the Millennium park. The building is set back from the road, with signs to indicate our position. There is ample car parking alongside and behind the practice building.
