Opportunity for an Internal Medicine Specialist to perform a hybrid clinical and telemedicine role

Reporting to: Clinical Director, Highcroft Referrals

Hours: Full time ideally

Start date: January 2022

Location: Bristol and working from home

About us

Highcroft Referrals and Vet Oracle Telemedicine are part of CVS Referrals Division.

Highcroft Referrals is a busy multi-disciplinary referral hospital based in Bristol, South-West England. Due to expansion of our medicine service, and the imminent move to a bespoke new hospital with state-of-the-art linear accelerator, we are now seeking an additional internal medicine clinician to join our medicine department.  Our current team consists of four board-certified internal medicine specialists and an ECVIM-CA resident, supported by a highly-skilled nursing team and a comprehensive team of board-certified specialists in oncology, soft tissue surgery, neurology, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, orthopaedics, dermatology, and ophthalmology. A new cardiology service will also be in place by the end of 2021.

Our facilities include MRI (1.5T), CT (16 Slice), video-endoscopy (GI, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy and cystoscopy) DR digital radiography, ultrasonography, as well as digital fluoroscopy for interventional cardiology and radiology.  The new hospital will include an Elekta 6MV Linac, capable of intensity-modulated and stereotactic treatment.

We are currently based in Southwest Bristol, and in Spring 2022 our new hospital (for more information click here) will open close to the M49 motorway in Avonmouth (North of the city, with excellent travel links to Wales, the Southwest, Central and Southern England).  This is a beautiful and affordable area of the country in which to work, catering for city and country-lovers alike.  Highcroft has a very strong team spirit and cases are managed in a collegiate manner.  Quality of life for staff is very important; part-time and flexible working practice may also be accommodated.

VetOracle Telemedicine is part of the virtual Vet Oracle hospital. We aim to provide an exceptional, dedicated, telemedicine advice and support service to vets in practice. Through this service, we endeavour to nurture and enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence in a respectful and non-judgmental environment. With multiple team members covering the service every day, it enables interaction and discussion between clinicians. We also have access to specialists in other disciplines for additional support where needed.

About the role

This hybrid role will provide an excellent balance between clinics and telemedicine, providing the work-life balance of a telemedicine role whilst also allowing continued involvement in clinics. This newly developed telemedicine service is growing rapidly, and to ensure that we continue to provide quick responses to our vets, we have this fantastic opportunity for an additional internal medicine specialist (board eligible applicants will be considered) to join our team.

Successful applicants will be passionate about delivering the highest quality service. Having strong attention to detail and being able to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
