Second Oncology internship at Highcroft Referrals – with possibility of residency after satisfactory progress.

Discipline Specific Internship Programme

Highcroft Referrals is recruiting an additional Oncology Intern to join our specialist-led oncology department. This will be a one-year fixed-term position but progression into a 3 year ECVIM-CA residency program will be possible after satisfactory progress in year 1.

Highcroft Referrals is an expanding multi-disciplinary referral hospital based in Bristol, with specialists in oncology, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, neurology, dermatology and ophthalmology.  We have a number of existing residency and internship positions (in internal medicine, neurology and surgery) and have now been given ECVIM-CA accreditation as an approved residency training centre in oncology. We anticipate that one or more oncology residency positions will be available at the end of this 12 month period.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated oncology intern who is committed to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care and who would relish the opportunity to further their career, improve their knowledge base and technical skills.  Candidates can expect to have significant involvement in case management, chemotherapeutics and client care.

Personal specification for application

A minimum of twelve months experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal practice in the UK is desirable, and most candidates should have a previous rotating internship in a specialist hospital. Applicants must be an MRCVS by the date the internship starts, and ideally by the date of application and interview.

Salary & Benefits

Highcroft Veterinary Referrals provides one of the most exceptional salary and benefits packages available to interns.  In addition to a salary (£31,000 per annum), you will have 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, RCVS and VDS membership, company contributory pension scheme and other company fringe benefits. You will have access to a comprehensive online library, including veterinary and medical journals.
