We are introducing a new role to support our existing weekend Vets. There is no sole charge in this role but due to the fast-paced environment some prior experience would be helpful.
The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a busy hospital environment seeing an interesting and diverse caseload. You would be predominantly triaging emergency consults and there will also be the opportunity to perform emergency procedures in the afternoon. Typical caseload includes vomiting, diarrhoea, gastrointestinal foreign bodies, wounds, unstable diabetics, anaemia, dystocia, haemoabdomen. We are ideally looking for someone to work alternate Saturdays from 8.30-5.30 and alternate Sundays from 9-5. There is a degree of flexibility with these times. We would be happy to consider 2 people job-sharing these shifts and may also be able to offer some weekday shifts if desired. Salary for the role is between £30,000 - £50,000 FTE depending on experience.
The role is at our RCVS accredited small animal hospital based in lovely North Leeds. We are well equipped with CT, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, multiparameter monitoring, ventilator and separate species wards. We have staff on site 24 hours a day and provide an emergency service for our own clients and those of our local member practices including our 2 branch practices. Our main strength is our amazing team of highly qualified and skilled individuals. We have certificate holders in surgery, medicine, ECC and exotics and we pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding level of patient care and customer service. We have an open dialogue about mental health and all work to contribute towards a lovely and supportive workplace. We are situated in lovely north Leeds, close to Leeds Bradford airport and within easy reach of Leeds, Harrogate and York. It is also easy to escape to the countryside with the beautiful Yorkshire Dales close by.
We are a large but close-knit team. We have certificate holders in surgery, medicine, ECC and exotics and see a mix of first opinion and referral work at our hospital. This provides a really interesting and diverse caseload. We are looking for someone who thrives on working within a team - we love discussing cases and working collaboratively. As Covid restrictions lift we have enjoyed seeing each other outside of work. We recently had a summer BBQ and some of the team took part in a charity dragon boat race.
The ideal applicant must be a qualified vet eligible to work in the UK. There is no sole charge in this role, but the hospital is fast paced so some experience would be helpful.
