Veterinary Surgeon

The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Lamond Vets, Livingston. The role involves a mixture of consulting and operating. Our caseload is large and varied with many longstanding, loyal clients. We work closely with the Scottish SPCA and other local charities to perform surgeries, consultations, and legal casework The ratio of operating and consulting days is flexible based on the candidate's interests.
 
Salary
Up to £55,000 negotiable DOE.
Welcome bonus of up to £1,500 and a relocation package of up t £5,000
 
Rota
Working 40 hours per week over 4 days
3:10 Saturdays (9:00am-4:00pm)
1 weekday night in OOH from 6:30pm-10:00pm – (Vets Now cover after 10pm)
If vets live within 30-45minute drive of practice they can be on call with phone on weeknight shift
Inpatients covered by night nurses
 
About Us
We are a busy RCVS accredited small animal practice with a motivated team of 32 staff. Our exceptional reputation over the past 66 years speaks for itself as our clients voted us “Best Scottish Vet” in 2018, 2019 and 2020. We support all interests and certificates currently held in the practice include Soft Tissue & Orthopaedic Surgery and ECC.

We work in a bright, spacious purpose-built building with a refurbishment and expansion due to start in September 2021. Our practice is particularly well equipped with surgical and diagnostic kit as we have a high proportion of clients seeking gold standard treatment.

Our team of 32 is made up of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, 13 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Veterinary Care Assistants and 8 Support Team staff.
 
Applicant Requirements
We are looking for a confident all-rounder who has a positive, resilient attitude. The ideal candidate would be level-headed with excellent communication skills. Candidates need to be confident performing all aspects of first opinion veterinary practice and this role is not suitable for new graduates. Candidates must be MRCVS and a full UK driving license is useful but not essential.
