The Role

We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team at Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre. This is a permanent position working 5 7-hour shifts per week plus out of hours’ duties. The role will suit a hardworking, dedicated Nurse who will fit into our Wendover Heights family and enjoy all aspects of nursing care including nurse clinics, laboratory work, inpatient care and anaesthesia as part of a collaborative team. The role is small animal although occasional help with equine patients may be required out of hours.

The main shift patterns are 07.00-15.00, 09.00-17.00 and 12.30-20.30hrs. Weekends are on a 1 in 8 rota basis with weekday nights being 1 in 6.

Our Registered Veterinary Nurses enjoy using their skills and experience to the full as part of a collaborative team. You can also bring your dog to work as we have staff kennels on site and lovely walks in the woods and fields.

About Us

Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre is a long-established friendly and busy large mixed practice near Aylesbury in the rural Chilterns. We have excellent rail links to London for evenings and weekends, and good road/rail/airport access to the rest of the country and abroad. There are separate SA and equine departments, both Tier 2 RCVS accredited with busy and varied caseloads plus a canine rehabilitation unit and a pet shop.We joined IVC Evidensia in 2019. Wendover Heights was one of three finalist practices in the 2019 PetPlan Awards and we are an example practice for the BVA’s Good Workplace Working Group.

We have 15 Vets and 19 Nurses (16 RVNs) and a team of 65 in total. CPD and personal development is strongly encouraged, and many members of the nurse team have additional qualifications, including certificates in anaesthesia, exotics and feline nursing, emergency and critical care, canine and equine behaviour etc. Our Vets have certificates in small animal medicine and equine disciplines.

Applicant Requirements

The candidate must be registered with the RCVS and ideally have experience as an Registered Veterinary Nurse. They need to be competent with anaesthesia and solo inpatient checks. Exotics nursing and horse handling experience an advantage although training will be provided.
