Job Details

Leading small animal hospital in York looking for another Vet to join their fantastic team. Rota allowing great work-life, industry-leading facilities/equipment, and a massive emphasis on helping you develop and follow your interests.

This multi-site practice is based in the heart of the historic City of York. With all the amenities and culture of the city you will also have easy access to spectacular Yorkshire countryside.

The practice itself has several branches and an RCVS accredited hospital flagship site. The role can be flexed to be based predominantly out of the hospital or out of a branch depending on your clinical interests and preferences.

As you might expect, the hospital boasts exceptional equipment and facilities with a CT scanner, dental/digital x-ray, brand new high spec ultrasound machine, endoscope, laparoscopic equipment, mobile multiparameter machines, comprehensive in-house lab.

The branches are all operating sites with good levels of equipment for routine procedures, work ups and consultations.

In terms of the team, you will join a skilled, welcoming group of over 20 Vets. All with their own individual interests including multiple certificate holders.

Key Duties
The role is for a four day week, and one in four weekends. The role can be tweaked according to your clinical bias however a typical week would involve one surgery day and the rest consulting/work ups.
You will have one 4pm finish a week and after doing a weekend you will receive the following Monday and Friday off for a long weekend. So you're able to plan, the rota is always drawn up well in advance.
There is a dedicated night team for looking after inpatients and emergencies so there is no OOH with this role.

Package and Benefits
In return you can expect a comprehensive package that includes:

  • Salary between £30,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
  • 6.6 weeks holiday per year
  • £1,750 CPD allowance + five days study leave. However this is not capped and further CPD up to and including certificates is fully support and encouraged
  • Health Shield benefit scheme
  • Staff discount on pets
  • Pension
  • Professional fees paid
  • Sick pay

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

Ideally, you will be comfortable with routine surgical procedures, consultations and work ups. However, full support will be available to help you develop and less experienced vets are also encouraged to apply.
