Veterinary Surgeon required at Burton Animal Hospital, Burton-on-Trent

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Burton Animal Hospital! Sadly, one of Vets is leaving to pursue her career in charity work therefore we are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is clinically and surgically confident to work alongside an outstanding team in a lovely practice.

This role would be suitable for someone wishing to advance their career who is either studying towards a certificate or would like to do so and increase their skillset. We are a large company, so there are potential internal progression opportunities. We are a 100% small animal practice with a varied caseload, where you would have clinical freedom to fully work up and manage your cases and actively encouraged to develop your skills and bring new ideas to the practice.

The role is a permanent, full time position based on a 4-day week with Saturday mornings every other week and no out of hours. We offer an excellent benefits package including an attractive salary in excess of £50,000 for the right candidate. Part time applications will also be considered.

About Us
Lockwood Veterinary Group are a friendly, compassionate, progressive group, established for over 25 years, with 8 branches across the West Midlands, East Midlands, and Staffordshire. Burton vets are located in Burton Upon Trent, a market town in Staffordshire. The town is served by a railway station with good public transport links to Derby and Nottingham and is within driving distance to East Midlands airport and the Peak District national park. The practice itself has been renovated to provide a spacious, light, and airy perfect working environment with large, bright consult rooms, theatre, prep room and separate cattery and kennels, digital x-ray, ultrasound and in house lab. We have a loyal client base, and the practice is highly trusted within the local community for providing exceptional veterinary care.

Our dedicated, friendly, and experienced team pride themselves on providing the best care for pets and clients alike. We have the facilities and resources to enable our staff to work in a low stress, well organised, supportive, friendly, family feel atmosphere. Maintaining a good working environment and job satisfaction for all staff is of high importance to us which is proven in our low staff turnover.
There is the opportunity for developing and growing your skills in any area that is of special interest to you. We actively encourage certificates, offering funding and support to our team members.

About Our Team
Our team is made up of 1 junior Veterinary Surgeon, 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 2 Receptionists. Many of our vets and nurses hold or are engaged in postgraduate qualifications. You will have the support and knowledge from experienced colleagues within our group in such fields as Surgery, Small Animal Medicine, Exotics, Imagery, Ophthalmology, and a visiting cardiologist.

Applicant Requirements
We are looking for a confident and experienced Veterinary Surgeon, who is as comfortable in theatre as in the consulting room and capable of delivering high quality and personable veterinary care. You will have excellent communication, organisational and motivational skills, be confident, enthusiastic, and forward thinking with a naturally calm, caring disposition. You will work with our management team in growing the business, driving the team, and maintaining wellness in the practice. Enthusiasm for sharing your skills and knowledge to mentor a younger vet in the first few years of their career will be essential.
