Veterinary Surgeon required at Crieff Vets, Crieff, Perthshire

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Crieff Vets on a full time basis but would will also consider part time applications. We are a small, friendly practice in rural Perthshire, with a loyal and respectful client base. We follow a rota which gives time consulting and dedicated ops days to allow you to work up your own cases. Crieff is growing and changing fast, we are investing in new equipment and are keen for you to join us in adapting to ensure we continue to offer excellence in first opinion care.

We operate an OOH rota which allows us to provide a much-valued service to our clients.

This is an expansion role, so the rota and working patterns can be shaped to suit you.

This role also has the potential to include time working at our sister practice in Perth.

Salary £35000-£45000 DOE (subject to pro rata)

About Us

We have a team of 4 Vets, one of whom is studying for a certificate. 1 RVN, with hopefully more on the way, and a team of animal care assistants.

Thanks to COVID we have been pretty quiet socially, but we all enjoy a good catch up over a cup of tea when we catch a chance. The team in general are keen on outdoor activity (how could you not be with such a glorious place on the doorstep!) although baking and gardening also regularly feature in weekend pursuits!

We have 2 consulting rooms, digital radiography, ultrasound, multiparameter monitoring, Tonopen and we are looking to expand to be offering laparoscopy in the very near future.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a confident and capable clinician who values client and pet relationships.

Growth mentality is a must, we are always looking for ways in which we can adapt what we offer to provide the best service possible. If you have a passion, we would love you to share it and develop it further and look forward to hearing about it.  Finally, we are looking for someone who is willing to be part of a team and who values the contribution everyone brings to the practice.

Company

At Crieff Vets in Perthshire, we aim to provide a high quality of veterinary care for animals while supporting owners. We have a small friendly team providing consistency of care. Our veterinary staff have a high level of clinical skills and knowledge combined with good communication skills. We feel that building good relationships with our clients with a strong bond of mutual trust allows owners to make the best informed decisions for their pet's care.

Here at Crieff Vets we have been an RCVS Core Standards Accredited Practice since the scheme began in 2005. This scheme by our regulatory body aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care.

Crieff Vets is a member practice of Independent Vetcare, joining in December 2017.

There has been a veterinary practice on the current site since 1903. This was originally based at Craigforth House and was predominantly a farm animal practice. The purpose built surgery was first opened in 1979 and refurbished and expanded in 1997. This expansion created improved facilities for the increasing number of small animal patients.

Crieff Vets was formerly known as Ashworth Veterinary Group. There had been a member of the Ashworth family at the helm from 1955 to 2011. Gordon was first in charge and was then followed by his son David, who retired in April 2011. Kirsty and Susan joined the practice partnership in 2007 and changed the name to Crieff Vets following David Ashworth's retiral. Both Kirsty and Susan were clinical directors at the practice until 2018. Rona Mckay picked up the reins in January 2019 and handed them on to Fern Fraser, the incumbent clinical director in January 2021.

The practice is now focused on purely small animals.
