Take your ECC knowledge and skills to the next level

Our people are at the heart of what we do and that’s why we’ve taken an innovative approach to people development. We have cemented our commitment to continuous development by heavily investing in CPD, ECC certification and coaching to give our staff the springboard they need to take their career to the next level. We’ve also introduced AdvantEdge – a two-week emergency programme for experienced small animal and mixed practice Vet Surgeons looking to boost their ECC knowledge and skills.

Give yourself the AdvantEdge with 75 hours of CPD

AdvantEdge is delivered virtually over a two-week period by specialists in ECC, Internal Medicine and Surgery as well as experienced ECC clinicians. If conditions allow closer to the time, we will look to implement a face to face model in Scotland. A surgery practical is included in the programme, alongside other practical sessions such as CPR and ultrasound. AdvantEdge contains supported shifts with a skilled ECC Vet, allowing you ample time to settle in. Comprising in 75 hours of CPD, the syllabus contains both clinical and non-clinical lectures including:

  • Abdo and Thoracic Radiology
  • Adjusting to Night Work
  • Analgesia and CRI’s
  • Blood Gas Analysis
  • Cardiac Emergencies
  • Communication
  • Dyspnoea
  • Fluid Therapy
  • Managing Shock
  • Neurological Emergencies
  • Professional Responsibility
  • Reproductive Emergencies
  • Transfusion Therapy
  • Triage
  • Toxicology

Something for everyone with rota options and flexible start dates

You can start in-clinic at any time, whilst securing a space on the programme, as you will receive a hands-on induction from our experienced teams.  Work life balance is extremely important to us, that's why we have designed rota patterns that maximise your time off and allow you spend quality time doing the things you love. Typically, a full time Vet will work an average of 40 hours per week, no more than three shifts a week a 1:2 weekend commitment and a fair share of bank holidays. We have flexible part time and weekend only options across our network of clinics too – there really is something for everyone.

We look after you, so you can look after them

Our employees are our greatest asset, that’s why we continue to invest in a first-class benefits package. We’ve recently increased the annual CPD allowance as well as extending annual leave entitlement from 6.6 weeks to 7 weeks. Our range of benefits include:

  • 7 weeks pro rata annual leave
  • Your birthday as a paid day off
  • Private medical insurance
  • £1500 CPD allowance plus 35 paid hours pro rata
  • UK Standard Pension contributions – 5% Employee/3% Employer
  • Professional membership fees
  • Up to 50% discounted staff pet care
  • Death in service of two times annual salary
  • Membership of employee wellbeing programme
  • Company sick, maternity, paternity and adoption pay schemes

The next programme will commence on 23 May 2022 and open to Vet Surgeons with a minimum of two years’ experience in small animal or mixed practice.
