Job Details

Do you want to be part of a friendly, dynamic team with a feline medicine cert holder, visiting cardiologist and orthopaedic surgeon to learn from?

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. We offer a 4 day week as standard. Out of hours Weeknights 1:5 consults until 7pm, then inpatient care only if the nursing team need help. Critical cases referred to Vets now for monitoring. We have a dedicated duty/inpatient vet each night allowing you to leave on time the rest of the week.

Weekends are Saturday am consults then on call until 5pm. Sunday on call only 8-5pm, Vets now outside these times. We offer a good mix of consults and theatre time. Due to being increasingly busy due to the Covid pet boom, confidence with routine surgery is essential but support available from Surgery Certificate holder for anything more complex. We welcome applications for both part time and full time hours (minimum 2 full days. Weekends pro rata).

Kingswood Vets is a well-established local practice in Woking, with 2 branches within a 15 minute drive. We moved to a new purpose built hospital premises in 2018. We have a really good mix of well insured clients wanting gold standard plus RSPCA and other charity work. All the usual toys including tonopen, surgical diathermy, digital dental x-ray. Plenty of time to work up cases with support available if needed.

As work life balance is important to us, Woking is full of things to do, we are surrounded by golf courses, country parks like Lightwater Country Park, RHS Garden Wisley, unspoilt scenic walks which includes Pyrford Lock, a theatre, galleries and The Living Planet Centre. We do still have great transport links though being around 30 minutes from London Centre on the train

We are a team of 8 Veterinary Surgeons (6.5FTE), 8 Nurses (7FTE 6 RVN's and 2SVN) with an amazing support team of 12 who do all the hard work to keep the practice running smoothly. We have feline medicine certificate holder, visiting cardiologist and surgeon to learn from. We are expanding our team from 8-9 so we can ensure we have the time needed to work up cases and provide the excellent care our clients deserve.

We are looking for a candidate with some experience who is passionate about the provision of high quality service to patients and clients. Candidates will need to be competent in routine consultations and surgery, with any specialist interests being welcomed and supported.

Company

The practice principally treats domestic animals and horses. Advice and treatment to smaller animals is usually given in the surgery, whereas horses are seen at their stables. Home visits for examination and treatment of domestic pets can also be arranged.

We have a dedicated team, devoted to giving your pet the best care. Please feel free to pop into our surgery to meet us.

Surgeries

We have three surgeries to choose from in Woking, Lightwater & Chertsey. Surgical procedures can be booked at either our Woking or Chertsey surgeries as we have fully equipped, sterile operating theatres with separate preparation areas at both sites.

Facilities

We are able to offer a wide range of surgical procedures in our two fully equipped theatres. If your pet requires overnight care, he/she will be hospitalised at our main branch. On these occasions, it will be fully explained why hospitalisation is recommended and the amount of monitoring that will be carried out, in order for the client to provide informed consent to their pet being admitted overnight. In addition, we have an in-house laboratory and provide diagnostic imaging, ultrasonography and x-rays.

Small Animal Practice

Home visits are available during normal opening hours. Please be aware that if your pet is ill and requires treatment - or in the event of an emergency - a home visit is not advised and you will be asked to bring your pet to the surgery. This allows the pet full access to the required drugs, equipment, facilities and trained staff.

Equine Practice

Our dedicated equine vets are available every weekday for routine visits, as well as diagnostic and lameness work-ups. We also have an equine vet on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency visits.
