The Practice

387 Veterinary Centre is an independent small animal practice in Great Wyrley, South Staffordshire. We opened in 2007 and have grown over the subsequent 14 years to become a cohesive team of 18 .

Everything we do is gauged at delivering high quality professional care for companion animals coupled with a personal service for the owner. This is one of the reasons why, in 2019, we were once again voted Vets of the Year in the best of’s annual Best Business Awards, and it’s also why 387 Vets are former Petplan Practice of the Year winners, and remain the only vet practice ever to win three of the five Petplan Vet Award categories on the same night in the history of the awards.

Set up by vet and Advanced Practitioner Hamish Duncan, the 387 team includes vets with postgraduate certificates and nurses with diplomas, enabling us to deliver a wide portfolio of services and surgeries. The same highly qualified team runs our same-site West Midlands Cat Clinic – a purpose built cat-only facility with separate entrance, waiting room and two cat consult rooms. We opened in May, and have had great feedback from feline owners, and as clinicians, feel the facility really enhances our experience of working we cats.

We proactively support team training, team wellbeing and professional development, because a happy forward-thinking team is friendly, confident and skilled; and we’re committed to investing in high spec diagnostic equipment to perform to our best. Facilities in addition to the expected include digital dental x ray machine, a class 3b laser therapy unit, cryopen, tonovet and more.

Location

A 15 min drive from Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cannock Chase. Great for walking, mountain biking and wild swimming! B’ham city 35 min by train.

The Role

With the recent opening of our cat-only clinic, we require an additional vet to help grow and develop our main site and new feline venture. You’ll be working a 4 day week with no OOH, and 1 in 6 Saturdays.

You’ll be part of a 6-strong vet team which includes 3 certificate holders and an RCVS Advanced Practitioner, as well as being a member of our RCVS-accredited and ISFM gold cat-friendly practice. Your role will include consulting in our main practice, as well as being rostered to consult in our feline-only centre. You will also have weekly operating sessions and a surgical load reflective of experience.
