Veterinary Surgeon - Full or Part Time - Dorchester Vets4Pets

Talented vet? Get the best of both worlds

Join our friendly team in a modern practice with an excellent local reputation.

About us
At Vets4Pets, our vets get the best of both worlds. That means enjoying complete clinical freedom in a practice that’s owned and run locally. But also getting access to the range of support we can give you as part of a wider group, including excellent training and development courses, high quality facilities and greater financial stability. This way, you can make the most of your expertise and help more clients and patients live healthier, happier lives.

Rewarding environment
This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy small-animal RCVS Nurse Training practice based in Dorchester, supporting the town and the surrounding area in Dorset.

We’re a friendly team that includes one full time vet, one weekend vet (long term locum), two RVNs, one student nurse and three reception colleagues. You’ll work in a modern, air-conditioned and purpose-built practice with state-of-the-art equipment including digital x-ray, portable ultrasound, VetAir dental machine, capnograph & pulse oximetry, Doppler BP, high spec microscope and Idexx in-house laboratory.

If you’re looking for great support, you’ll find it here. We offer varied CPD that helps you quickly build your skills and study for certificates. Plus, you’ll be able to benefit from the resources we have as part of the wider Pets at Home group.

Your skills and experience
Due to a varied caseload, you’ll need solid experience as a vet with good general surgical and medical skills. Whether you join on a full-time or part-time basis, you’ll need to work a weekend rota but this won’t be expected until Spring 2022. There’s no OOH work required either, so the role is particularly supportive when it comes to your work/life balance.

Vets4Pets Benefits
We offer a competitive salary, generous CPD opportunities and annual leave, a contributory pension scheme, private health insurance, Life Assurance, relocation packages, paid memberships for RCVS, BVA and VDS, plus exclusive company discounts and rewards.

A superb location

A relocation package is available to the right candidate. So there’s no barrier to taking up this great opportunity and making the most of life in Dorset which boasts one of the UK's sunniest and warmest climates. Dorchester is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast which offers Blue Flag beaches, dramatic scenery, rich heritage and a historic harbour as well as some ‘Outstanding’ schools. All this is still under two and a half hours from London, with good road networks and direct rail links.
