Job Details

A rare opportunity for a small animal vet to join our well established independent, privately owned, 3 vet practice focusing on quality of care and good work-life balance.

The Practice

We are a genuinely independent small animal practice located in the small town of Blackburn. We have been established for over 60 years and pride ourselves on the level of care we give our patients. Sam and John (the owners) have been at the practice 18 and 25 years respectively!

The relatively low number of clients per vet allows us more time with each case and enables us to treat animals and clients as individuals.
We have a low staff turnover creating a stable environment for staff and clients. Our team of experienced RVN's (x5), nursing assistants and receptionists are friendly and supportive.

We have all the usual equipment you would expect a first opinion practice to have.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our amazing team with the potential for partnership in the future.

The role would suit someone looking for a supportive, friendly environment with clinical freedom and a life outside of work.
Ideally we require an experienced vet to work up to 4 days a week plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings consulting.  The role will eventually involve sole charge but there is a wonderful support team on hand and one of the other vets can be called if needed.

We normally open Monday to Friday 8.30am – 6pm and Saturday mornings, 8.30-12pm, but have reduced our opening hours during the recent pandemic to allow all staff a break. There is no OOH or on call work and we are closed all bank holidays.

We are also a veterinary nurse training centre so the ideal candidate would enjoy being involved with this as well as general clinical discussions with various members of the team.

A locum would be considered as a temporary measure with potential to convert to permanent if the right candidate wanted this.

Successful Candidate

Our ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic, caring vet, who would fit into our family team. They would be capable but also keen to build on their clinical and surgical skills.

Being a small independent practice we are open to new ideas and value input from all team members. Here you can make a difference and have a say in the future of your practice.

The Package

RCVS and VDS membership fees, inclusion into staff pension scheme, CPD of your choice.
5 weeks paid holiday and all bank holidays off.
Frome £25/hour depending on experience
