Job Details

As part of a 5 vet team and with the support of our 7 fully qualified nurses, you will be expected to deliver a mix of 15 minutes consults or undertake surgical procedures as a part of mixed diary layout. Non-surgical days consist of a wide range of first opinion appointments, with an emphasis on case work up using in house diagnostic facilities. Fully equipped operating theatre and dental suite mean surgeries are undertaken every day and are performed at a high standard. This is a full time position working 4 days per week 8.30am - 6.30pm. OOH rota is 1:10 weeknights and weekends.

With a purpose built practice, we have all of the usual equipment that you would expect in a gold standard veterinary practice. Clinically we encourage and educate our clients on the benefits of preventative healthcare but our biggest selling point is our practice team and the emphasis that we put on well-being and support. With trained Mental Health First Aiders and Well-being Champions, we strive hard at maintaining a healthy work/life balance. Castle Cary offers everything that a popular market town would with good transport links to Bristol, Bath. London or the coast, depending on how you want to spend your free time.

With 5 qualified vets and 7 qualified nurses, we have a clinical team that functions around support and the delivery of high quality veterinary medicine. The team are actively encouraged to develop individual clinical skills and interests. This has led to a GP Cert AVP in Small Animal Medicine, as well as Physiotherapy and Behaviour, Emergency Critical Care, and Dental Surgery. We play an active part in the local community, sponsoring events like the local children's carnival, providing support on interview techniques for school leavers and giving talks with local charity groups.

This position would suit an ambitious candidate with a surgical bias and a view to future business development. We are keen to develop and hone a future Clinical Director by providing all the relevant support, training and mentoring needed to take this next step in your career. An active interest in the day-to day running of the business would be essential and in return an exciting journey into running your own practice alongside 4 other Clinical Directors is on offer.

Company

Delaware Veterinary Group has been established for over 100 years. The original surgeries were at Delaware House, Castle Cary and Market Street, Yeovil.

The new purpose-built premises were opened in Castle Cary on a green field site in July 1999 with facilities for companion, equine and farm animals. The new surgery in Yeovil was established in 1979 on Hendford Hill and has been expanded to meet the demands of Veterinary Practice well into the new millennium.

In October 2000 a new branch surgery was opened in Stoke-sub-Hamdon to extend and improve the service offered to the area by holding daily surgeries in the village.

The Practice employs eleven veterinary surgeons at Castle Cary and five at Yeovil. Together we provide a broad base of experience and expertise, which enables us to offer first class treatment and advice for all species of animals.
