608 Vets are looking for an experienced RVN to work 2 OOH weekends in 4 (or would be happy to have successful applicants working 1 in 4).

We are a sixteen-vet small animal practice, including a separate team that provides on-site emergency care for us and local practices. We have a full range of diagnostic equipment including doppler ultrasound, CR, ASIF and external fixation, endoscopes, tonovet pen, slit lamp, multi parameter monitors, in-house laboratory with experienced technician and lots of caring RVNs to provide a high standard of diagnosis, treatments and hospitalisation for our patients 24 hours a day. We will provide funded CPD and are a friendly practice with a lot of experienced vets and nurses who encourage the sharing of knowledge and advice but welcome new ideas.

The role is Saturday and Sunday, 7.00pm to 8.30am. You will work with a Vet and a PCA is available until 9pm. Checks on in-patients are required every two hours throughout the night, those at 3am and 5am are shared between the team. We are a small animal practice and provide OOH care to 2 other vets along with clients that have no provision. Duties include answering phones, dispensing medication, taking payments, carrying out lab tests, admitting and discharging patients, assist night vet with any consultations or operations, administer treatments to in-patients as scheduled, walk patients, maintain records, etc.

About 608

608 Vet Practice was founded in 1932 in Knowle. In 1951, services transferred to our current main surgery at 608 Warwick Road, Solihull.

Our two branch surgeries in Acocks Green and Bentley Heath have been established for over forty years.

All surgeries offer a full range of routine veterinary care:

  • Consultations
  • Vaccinations
  • Flea and worm treatments
  • Microchipping
  • Neutering
  • Nutritional advice
  • Advice on taking pets abroad
  • Repeat Prescriptions

Patients requiring hospitalisation are cared for 24 hours a day at the Solihull surgery, where our dedicated emergency team is based.

Our hospitalisation facilities include walk-in kennels for bigger dogs, an isolation area for infectious cases, separate cat ward, incubators for extra warmth and oxygen and vivaria for our more exotic patients.

Our operating facilities allow us to perform a range of surgery from routine neutering procedures to complex repairs of broken bones.

We are proud to have one of the most advanced in-house laboratories in the country run by our experienced lab technician with vet nurse support.
