Job Details

Would you like to work in a practice where the team is the number one priority? Where a full-time working week is 35 hours?

At Sutton-in-Ashfield Vets4Pets, we put our team first. We believe that if there’s a happy team of vets, nurses, and support staff, then excellent standards of care for our patients and clients will follow.

When I say flexible, I mean as bendy as an elastic band. The usual full-time role is 35 hours a week spread over 4 days, with the same day off each week …. and NO WEEKENDS!!!!

If you want fewer hours, then get in touch and we can come up with a rota that fits with your life plans. If you prefer to split full-time over 5 days instead, no problem. And did I mention NO WEEKENDS!

If consults are your thing and you don’t like surgery, we can offer a consult-only role with the opportunity to work up your imaging/medical cases as you see fit.

If you are a budding surgeon, we can make sure you have an experienced vet available to scrub in with you as you start adding more interesting surgeries to your lists.

We are willing and able to support any interest or specialism up to certificate level, including funding and sending cases your way!

  • Surgery? We have lots of kits and one vet already undertaking a certificate, another would be great.
  • Medicine? We have a fantastic array of in-house lab equipment which means a lot of tests can be run without sending them away. Our ultrasound machine is top of the range, and also has Doppler.
  • Exotics? One of our vets has a certificate and sees all sorts of unusual pets, and would love to have another vet to talk snakes too!
  • Cardiology? Imaging? Ophthalmology? We would love to buy you the equipment you need if we don’t already have it!

We encourage case continuity and are passionate about ensuring every member of our team can pursue their interests.

The ever-important salary! Always up for negotiation but here is where our ranges lie pro-rata:

  • 1-2 years qualified - £35-40K
  • 2-4 years qualified - £40-50K
  • 4 years plus - £55K plus, let’s talk!

Other benefits include

  • 6.6 weeks holiday per year, plus your birthday off
  • Unlimited CPD budget, we can’t put a price on your skill progression!
  • BVA/BSAVA/VDS/RCVS paid
  • Bonus scheme
  • 20% discount on Pets at Home
  • 30% staff discount in the practice
  • Paid lunch breaks
  • Working with our amazing work family!

Can’t wait to hear from our next superstar!

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
