Rotating Intern

If you would like to work in a busy referral small animal hospital as a rotating intern to broaden your horizons, look no further! We are currently taking applications for our rotating internship at Pride Veterinary Centre in Derby, with the position due to start in November 2021.

This position is a fixed 13-month contract with the bonus of a competitive salary along with 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays). You will rotate through the major services to work alongside specialists and will have night shifts to provide out of hours care for hospitalised patients and manage new referrals. There are many formal and informal opportunities to receive teachings through activities such as journal clubs, tutorials, and case rounds. Many of our past rotating interns successfully moved onto discipline-specific internships and residencies.

Pride Veterinary Centre is the central flagship small animal hospital for the Scarsdale Veterinary Group, a multi-species practice employing over 300 staff across 11 sites in the East Midlands. The state-of-the-art hospital provides 24/7 veterinary care, supported by a dedicated night team. We also work closely with the University of Nottingham, with the veterinary students rotating through first opinion and referral services at Pride. We are located at the edge of Derby city centre with good transport links to major cities via road and rail networks. East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport offer convenient access to domestic and international destinations.

We offer specialist services in internal medicine, oncology, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, exotics, anaesthesia, intensive care, and diagnostic imaging (including on-site MRI and CT) under one roof, enabling great team interaction and top-class veterinary care.

You will have at least 1 – 2 years of experience in a small animal practice and you must have a veterinary degree registrable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. You will have good interpersonal and communication skills, be fluent in English be proactive, positive and friendly, and relish the opportunity to further your career.
