Superb opportunity for a newly qualified Vet to work in the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Royal MileMarket Cross Clinc is seeking a full time Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with minimum one years' experience, for our fast-paced practice. We are a successful privately owned, practice with many in-house capabilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy.

We are situated just outside Edinburgh, with some fantastic outdoor places to explore and a beautiful city to go out in. There is anything from hillwalking on the local Pentland Hills to water sports on Gladhouse Reservoir and at Portobello. There is mountain biking at Glen Tress and Innerleithen. Edinburgh as a city offers lots of bars and cafes and Harry Potter for fans of J K Rowling! Locally we also have Buccleuch Park with the Restoration Yard shops and cafes to visit and the park to explore and also Vogrie with its many walks. The coast is not far away and Munro-Bagging and skiing is only a couple of hours drive away. A local dry slope caters all year round.

Edinburgh Restoration YardApplicants should be friendly and confident. You will have be positive, with a can-do attitude. You will have an awareness already of the normal pressures in small animal practice, including time management and the need to work-up cases. You will be experienced enough in surgery to handle all of the surgery case load efficiently and without help. You will handle clients with a decent amount of EQ and be adept at fitting in and being a respectful member of a team.

Benefits

  • Salary depending on experience - assuming minimum 1 year experience will start at £36,000
  • 8.30am to 6pm weekdays. 1 in 4 Saturdays 8.30am to 12 noon.
  • No on-call
  • 1 weekday day off every other week (or paid as extra if worked when other vets on holiday)
  • 34 days off per year including bank holidays (the majority of which are taken in lieu)
  • CPD up to £1000 per year

Since then, we have become one of the first practices to enrol in the voluntary Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme, we have introduced our pioneering Healthy Pet Club and the practice has grown to the extent that in the summer of 2011, we moved into a purpose-built premises just round the corner at 18 Edinburgh Road, Dalkeith.
