The Role

We are currently looking for an RVN to join our friendly team based across our two practices in Oswestry and Wrexham, and are seeking someone who has a passion for animal welfare, is confident and who appreciates the importance of client care. We would be willing to consider either full or part time applicants.

Our main practice has hospital status, and as such we see a wide variety of interesting caseloads with a good mix of surgery and medicine.  Our nurses carry out a variety of duties including anaesthesia, nurse consults, inpatient care, lab work, administration work and more, so we would welcome applicants who wish to focus more on their specific area of interest.

The Rota

4.5 Day Week (Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm)

1:5 weekend on-call rota with a long weekend the following week

Average of 1 night per week on call.

About us

Our branch practice In Wrexham holds vet and nurse consultations, and we also escort pets to and from here using our pet ambulance to have surgery or hospitalisation in the main practice.  Our nurses rotate between this practice in Wrexham and our Oswestry site, so the successful applicant will be required to have a Full UK driving license to enable them to drive practice vehicles.

As a fun, close knit team of 12 veterinary surgeons, 7 registered veterinary nurses, 3 nursing students, 2 veterinary care assistants, 9 reception staff, plus a cleaner and a handyman, there is an excellent support network available at all times. We have also supported Mental Health Research UK since its inception, raising nearly £20k so far, and there is a great social side to the practice, with many out-of-work events being arranged on a regular basis for those who wish to attend.

The Candidate

There is a requirement to contribute towards our shared on-call rota, which will include one weekend in eight and one sleep-in shift per week.  The sleep in shifts are paid by the hour, and an additional bonus is provided if any nursing duties are completed out-of-hours.  In addition to financial benefits for on-call, we also provide spacious, pet friendly on-site accommodation, which includes a kitchen, bathroom and several bedrooms which our nurses are encouraged to make homely.
