Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon - a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive practice
We have a vacancy for a small animal vet to work across our two sites in Cheltenham.
Our practice is proudly independent and has been established for over 40 years and with sites in The Reddings and in Churchdown. Both sites are a few minutes from Junction 11 of the M5 for easy access to the West Midlands, Wales and the South West.
Our team is relatively small and welcoming., and we run the equivalent to 3 - 4 full time vets. The main surgical facilities are at the Reddings site. In addition, the Churchdown site has been internally refurbished to a very high standard. There is an excellent team spirit at the practice where colleagues discuss cases and provide mutual support.
Having worked at Bristol University Vet School for 6 years, Richard Hillam has a passion to both teach and develop his colleagues in the practice; he holds certificates in both Radiology and Surgery.
As you would expect, our equipment includes an excellent range of laboratory and surgical equipment. Richard performs most surgical procedures including advanced cruciate repairs and more complex soft tissue surgery and enjoys teaching colleagues new procedures. In addition we have an excellent DR x-ray system and a high end ultrasound with cardiac probe and software. Patient monitoring equipment is of high quality with multi-parameter monitoring available. We have experienced RVN's supporting the veterinary team.
We use the Voyager/Vetspace/Merlin practice management system. We encourage CPD and would encourage any new member to work towards a certificate and we would support and fund that. Equally we would welcome a colleague with a certificate; medicine or cardiology would be preferred, but any certificate would be welcome.
Our appointments are all 15 minutes (or 30 minutes if needed).
We have just rebranded and are all very enthusiastic to create a great work place with happy staff and a practice that we can be proud of. Being independent, we encourage clinical freedom without targets and measures in place.
There is no on call just 1 in 4 Saturdays, and we could accommodate part or full time. We can also provide accommodation if needed. An excellent salary is available ranging from £30,000 to £60,000 depending on experience.
