Night Veterinary Nurse required at Oakham Veterinary Hospital, Oakham, Rutland

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Night Nurse to join our team here at Oakham Veterinary Hospital! Supporting the duty vet, our night nurses provide full gold-standard nursing to the patients in our care. We have a wide and varied caseload, and the night-nurse is able to put into practice their emergency and critical-care experience & skills.

Rota

3 nights per week: Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. Working shifts, not sleeping shifts

About Us

We offer extensive hospital facilities and diagnostic equipment, including CT. We offer a complete veterinary service, from preventative health to specialist surgery with the very latest 'state of the art' equipment. We have a clinical association with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science giving us access to the expertise from leading veterinary specialists.

About the Team and Culture

Our clinical team currently consists of 10 RVNs, a 2nd year student, a HCA and a hospital assistant. We have 9 vets, ranging from certificate holders in cardiology, medicine, surgery and dentistry through to new graduates. Our team, including the customer care and support teams, are all dedicated to deliver the very best of veterinary care and service.

Candidate Requirements

A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in emergency & critical care is essential, preferably gained whilst working nights. Experience in providing full gold-standard nursing to in-patients and emergency cases is essential.

Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and written. They should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and resilient, demonstrating a passion for providing excellent nursing care

We have extensive hospital facilities and diagnostic equipment in both our equine and small animal departments offering a full range of veterinary care from routine vaccines, consultations and healthcare through to specialist referral work.

Yard visits are available for equine and farm veterinary needs and to enhance the service we offer to our Equine Clients north of Grantham we have a veterinary surgeon based in Lincolnshire. We offer our clients in the Northamptonshire area an equine service to their yards. 

Our team of experienced vets, nurses and support staff are continuously updating their knowledge and skills to bring your animals the level of care you would expect from a modern veterinary practice.

We are situated just off the Oakham bypass on Ashwell Road with easy access, and we have separate car and lorry parks.

Our 24 hour emergency service is covered by our own vets from our hospital premises.

In May 2010 we became clinical associates with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science giving us access to the expertise from leading veterinary specialists and substantially increasing our already 'state of the art' equipment range.
