We have an exciting position available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our Imaging department. Your main focus will be to provide nursing support to our imaging team, hands-on scanning fo patients in MRI and CT as well supporting our outstanding inpatient and client care. The role involves working closely with our surgical, inpatient and customer care teams to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. You should be an experienced and competent RVN with the skills and knowledge to complete all nursing tasks. Although the role is primarily supporting a busy imaging referral service, assistance in other departments is occasionally necessary so an overall high standard of nursing experience is desirable.

The Practice

Our practice is a first opinion and referral hospital, we are proudly independent run by son, mother and father. We have a great team of staff that work towards the best possible outcome for the patient at costs that are accessible for most clients making us different to most referral centres. We have RCVS hospital status along with “OUTSTANDING” awards from the RCVS. We make a huge difference in the veterinary profession as there are not many places out there like us, just look at our reviews for examples.  Our facilities are outstanding and consist of MRI (in-house), CT (in-house), colour doppler ultrasound, video endoscopy, 3 theatres, DR x-ray suite just to name a few. The whole hospital is located on one floor so no need for stairs or lifts.

In the heart of the town centre, 10 minutes from the M6 motorway and a 2-minute walk from Wigan North Western train station and 30 minutes away from Manchester and Liverpool airports our location is key for customers and the team. Wigan has a great history and there are many attractions in the area whether you are a keen golfer or like to read in our local library, many restaurants and other attractions are a simple walk away from the practice for great convenience.  Whatever your requirements, we will make you feel at home here and as you will be an extension to our family we will assist in most things to make you feel welcome.

The Role

This is an exceptional chance to develop your clinical and technical skills, with the opportunity to learn and expand your knowledge in advanced imaging hardware, skills and scanning techniques, specifically CT and MRI. You will be joining a growing team which supports an end-to-end scanning service with a busy workload. The role involves liaising with other members of the imaging team and clinicians to provide diagnostic studies of excellent quality, and would involve positioning for and running imaging protocols, or supporting other imaging team members in doing so.

The role involves a 40 hour week over 5 days, working one in 6 Saturdays with time back in leu. With no OOH or Bank Holiday working.

Successful Candidate

We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse who has the relevant skills and experience to hit the ground running in our well-equipped Veterinary Referral Hospital. A passion for diagnostic imaging is essential as well as a shared belief in our ethos of clinical resolution, client satisfaction, financial resolution and positive staff morale.

The Package

The candidate would have RCVS fees paid, support from our imaging vet and in house CPD from diplomats. We have a large practice gym for staff only. We have annual staff BBQ’s and other staff gathering during the year to ensure all out team feel appreciated and included in moving the business forward. Staff pension and other benefits are available on application.

Salary depends on experience, we are willing to look at anyone from 1 year out to veterans of imaging.
