Job Details

Joining our professional, personable team at our Hucknall practice, you’ll deliver exceptional care by going beyond consulting to listen and empathising, putting patients and clients first, always.

As well as your day to day duties within practice caring for your patients and clients, you will play a key role in leading and managing the team. You will have the drive and ambition to develop the practice client base, ensuring high standards of care are always delivered.

As qualified MRCVS, you’ll already have good experience gained in small animal practice. You’ll be competent in clinical examination and surgery and confident working sole charge or as part of the wider team. Sharing our values being trustworthy, caring and progressive, you will have all the softer skills essential to working effectively and empathetically, such as good communication skills, mediation experience, and the ability to share knowledge and lead by being an outstanding, positive example to others.

This is a full time role working 4 days per week with 1:3 half weekends or 1:6 full weekends. 

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary package up to £65k dependent on experience
  • £1,500 CPD allowance with 3 days CPD leave per annum
  • VDS, RCVS, BVA fees paid
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays per annum
  • 4 weeks paid sabbatical leave after each 5 years of service
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity pay

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.

Key accountabilities:

You will be responsible for consulting, surgery, diagnosis and treatment of patients, inpatient care, supporting reception and nursing staff with regards to clinical services, customer service, pricing and estimating fees and dealing with client concerns. 

Skills and experience:

We are looking for a clinically strong Veterinary Surgeon with leadership experience. 

Minimum of two years small animal practice experience working with high volumes of patients. Ability to manage and mentor staff within your practice. 

Registered with the RCVS to practice as a veterinary surgeon in the UK. 

Branch:

Medivet Hucknall consists of a 4 Vet team, one of which has a certificate in surgery. You will be fully supported by a large team of support staff.

The practice is fully equipped including a separate operating theatre, digital x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy with access to MRI and CT scanner at our orthopaedic referral clinic - Referrals East Midlands.

Our Hucknall practice is situated close to Nottingham city centre, the home of Robin Hood.
