Job Details

“Some of the most caring and considerate people I’ve met… Most helpful and thoughtful vets and staff I have ever encountered.” Our clients love us and we know you will too!

We’ve had our first birthday and we are ready to welcome another vet to our team at Heanor Vets4Pets!

If you are an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon looking to join a warm and friendly team then we would love to hear from you. Having been open just over a year, Partner and Vet, Ann, and her team of Nurses and Receptionists have worked hard to make the practice a success, and they continue to go from strength to strength. We are now looking for a new enthusiastic vet to join us as we grow further. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to build your own client base or have new ideas of how to do or shape things, as we are a team who are always open to new ideas.

Vet and Practice Owner Ann Chadwick-O’Neill takes great pride in her 5* rated small animal practice, which is bright, spacious and air-conditioned with separate dog, cat and isolation wards, built to industry leading standards. We have good quality ultrasonography and digital radiography, as well as dental radiography, along with other equipment to enable us to offer a complete general practice service.

You will have solid medical and surgical skills and be confident with sole charge, as there will be an element of this in your role. Key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the role, delivering excellent patient and client care. You will be a strong team player and enjoy the variety the role will bring. If you are keen to develop within your own area of interest, we offer a generous CPD allowance and plenty of support.

This role is full or part time, and will include 1 in 2 Saturdays, but no Sunday working or OOHs.  Experience is preferred, but an enthusiastic recent graduate vet wanting to further their general practice career will also be considered.

We offer;
•    Competitive salary
•    Holiday allowance of 20 days plus Bank Holidays, increasing after 2 years’ service
•    No OOH
•    No Sundays
•    Contributory pension scheme
•    CPD allowance
•    Professional memberships paid
•    Death in Service of 4 x annual salary
•    Exclusive company discounts and rewards -including 20% off at Pets at Home, The Groom Room and the Vet Group

We are based in the small town of Heanor located just off of the M1, junction 26. The East Midlands airport is only 20 minutes away and you can reach the centre of Nottingham within half an hour.

You will be joining a practice where our Veterinary Partner has full clinical freedom with the support and benefits of working with the Vet Group.

If you think this could be the role for you, we’d love to hear from you.

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
