Job Details

Paws Veterinary Centre in Colchester are looking for a full or part time experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and welcoming team.

The position will involve consulting, working up cases both medical and surgical, and routine operations. We are a small practice, which allows for good case continuity and the opportunity to develop productive relationships with clients.

Our rota allows for a good work life balance, as well as just 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. There is no on call or out of hours.

We are an RCVS accredited, two Veterinary Surgeon soon to be three, small animal practice in Colchester. Colchester is located within easy access to London and the beautiful Essex coastline, just a stones throw from Mersea Island in fact! We have excellent direct digital x-ray, high quality ultrasound and IDEXX blood machines. We are a small, kind, friendly team, with 4 qualified veterinary nurses, 2 student nurses and our own veterinary physiotherapist. We also have access to a mobile specialist cardiologist, ultrasonographer and orthopaedic surgeon allowing you to manage cases predominantly in house. However, we are also located within a reasonable distance from many excellent referral centres and have access to CT and MRI scanners locally. We pride ourselves on being a fear free practice and we would like our new colleague to become familiar with this regime too.

The role would suit an experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon, who is confident with soft tissue surgery, dentals and occasional sole charge. The ideal candidate would hold an Official Veterinarian qualification, although this is not essential.  We encourage and support development of special interests in all areas of small animal practice.
