Full-time Small Animal and Equine Veterinarian - Saudi Aramco Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

Full time position in Saudi Arabia working Sunday-Thursday, and 2 out of 3 Fridays, as well as on call work. Small animal medicine and routine surgeries as well as general equine medicine and lameness workups.

YOUR PRACTICE:
Our clinic is a small clinic with 3 full time vets and 1 relief vet, making it a lovely friendly run clinic where everyone works closely as a team to provide the best service to the patients. We are a not for profit clinic which comes with several benefits, as the vets have a lot of autonomy without the pressure of management to make medical decisions. We have recently undergone renovations so our building is updated and new. Our clinic is located inside a community compound, which is extremely safe and offers a friendly, loyal, community to work with.

LOCATION:
Inside Saudi Aramco’s company compound, consisting of expats from all over the world. The practice is located ten minutes from the provided accommodation.

THE ROLE:
We are looking for one or two vets to come work in sunny Saudi Arabia. The contract term will initially be for 1 year with the possibility to extend, starting December 2021/January 2022.

The position would best suit someone that is comfortable with all aspects of small animal medicine and routine surgery as well as general equine medicine and lameness workups. Approximately 10% of the clinical cases are equine. The clinic is fast paced and we see a large range of surgical and medical cases. The candidate must be comfortable with after hours cases, including equine colics, small animal laparotomies and trauma cases.

We have most routine gear; ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental kit, orthopaedic equipment, ECG, BP, and in house CBC and biochem machines.

The working week consists of 5 days (Sunday-Thursday) and 2 out of 3 Fridays. Friday’s will either be paid for separately, or can be taken as days in lieu. Typical hours worked in a week are 35-40hours. On call will be required, which amounts to 1 weeks out of 3.

The salary starts at £8,500 per month, as well as an additional on call rate. There is no tax on salary in Saudi Arabia, however you may be liable for taxes in your home country, depending on your residency or citizenship status, or depending on how long you stay overseas.

The successful candidate will be living on the Aramco compound in Dhahran, where day-to-day life is extremely safe. The normal rules and regulations of Saudi are generally absent on camp, and there is a friendly relaxed atmosphere here. Single females manage fine here. There is a range of activities and clubs to keep you occupied in your spare time, e.g. golf, tennis, swimming, cross fit, touch rugby, football, horse riding etc.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate(s) have to have a minimum of 5 years experience. Equine experience is a plus. A positive attitude and the capacity to work well under pressure are essential. The ability to work well within a small team is crucial as our clinic Is not big and we all become one close knit team. Must also be able to adapt to new ways of doing things, as our clinic is not the same as that in the Western world. Ideal candidate would not be expecting to bring their family with them, unfortunately we cannot offer family visas, and therefore the candidate should be willing to make the move alone. A minimum of 1 year commitment is expected, however there is potential to stay longer, with most of our vets having stayed for 5-6years.
