Job Details

We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team, lead by our highly experienced Head Nurse. A day in the life of a WVC nurse, other than the consuming of cakes and ice creams, which of course is compulsory, would ultimately depend on the 4 assigned areas in practice. Theatre, Kennels, Prep and Consultation. The theatre nurse is responsible for admitting and discharging the patients, as well as the normal theatre duties such as monitoring the anaesthetics. The Prep nurse is responsible for assisting the theatre nurse by getting theatre ready, preparing the patients, by placing intravenous catheters, taking bloods and running the tests, discussing the premedication protocols with the veterinary surgeons. The theatre and prep nurse work closing with one another, making sure the morning of procedures go smoothly. The kennel nurse is responsible for recovering the patients from theatre and looking after any medical in-patients. The consulting nurse will have nurse consults throughout the day, plus answering questions and supporting the reception team. There are no out of hour duties or weekend covering other than 8am to 2pm on a 1:5 rota for Saturday morning, thus allowing for an excellent work life balance.

We are situated in the beautiful South Downs, a stones throw away from the coast and London, giving the best of both worlds. We have lots of toys such as digital x-ray, a multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring machine, blood pressure, microscope, in house biochemistry and haematology blood machines, ultrasound with cardiac and an abdominal probe, laser, ECG, endoscope and tonometer. We have recently had our kennels refurbished, having a separate dog and cat ward. I would say our unique selling point would be we have the friendliest team ever, come and see if you don't believe me. Want to know more than visit our website and check us out.

If you are looking to join a warm and friendly team then we would love to hear from you. We have an amazing team of nurses, vets, VCA's and receptionists. All working together to achieve an excellent standard of care. We have a nurturing culture, with a high emphasis for learning and development. We have several certificate holders who are always sharing their knowledge, and discuss cases with the nursing team.

We encourage our nurses to pursue their passions in whatever form. We look after the residents of a local Cats Protection Adoption Centre, meaning there is not a week that goes by without a kitten cuddle.

You will need to be kind, considerate, have a high energy, have a positive, can do attitude, who is happy to use your initiative and use time and resources effectively. You will have good interpersonal skills with a passion on all aspects of general nursing. You will instinctively want to go that extra mile to provide the best care to your patients.
