Veterinary Surgeon required at St George's Vets - Bushbury Branch, Wolverhampton, West Midlands

The Role

Due to exciting changes and expansion at our Bushbury surgery (just 5 minutes from J2, M54) we are looking for a full time GP vet. Experience is preferred, and you should enjoy a mix of consulting, operating and imaging. You will have one day off per week and work a Saturday rota of 1 in 3 Saturdays. Progression to senior vet/ site lead roles are available with correct experience/training. Salary range £35k to £50k (The higher level will be dependent on a high level of relevant experience/possible cert holder in an area that will enhance services at this branch). As a GP practice we aim to deal with our cases ‘in house’ but where advanced imaging (CT), overnight hospitalisation, specialist surgery or just some clinical advice is needed our nearby hospital is there to help.

About Us

Our practice ethos is to offer the very best in preventative medicine as well as when pets are unwell, but we understand that all clients and their pets have individual needs. We provide a supportive environment where we freely discuss cases and want to help colleagues develop their clinical skills, no matter what stage they are in their career.

We have a brand-new ultrasound scanner, in-house Idexx blood machine, all pets requiring dentistry have full dental x-rays and we offer laparoscopic surgery. Full X ray facilities are planned for this branch within the next 6 months.

We are generally a team of 2 vets, 2 RVNs, Animal Care Assistant and receptionists but there will be times where you are the sole vet working. Our RVNs run clinics which include- weight, senior, nail clips, AGs, POCs.

In our air-conditioned consult rooms, we do 15 (some 30 minute) consultations in maximum 2h blocks. Breaks for phone calls, reporting bloods and repeat prescriptions are built into the diary.

We are an organised branch and can offer a well-planned, (largely) predictable working day. We open at 9am. Or last appointment is 6.15pm and the phones go to our nearby hospital from 6.30pm. Whilst of course, our profession requires some flexibility, it is rare that we work much beyond regular finish times. There is no OOH requirement as we have our own separate night team at our hospital.
