Job Description

New Graduate position available for ‘Vets4Pets Graduate Programme’

Situated on sunny South coast

Location/Surgery Information

This is a great opportunity to enjoy a wonderful location as Dorset boasts one of the UK's sunniest and warmest climates. Weymouth is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast offering Blue Flag beaches, dramatic scenery, rich heritage and an historic harbour. All with good road networks and direct rail links to London.

Our experienced, friendly and supportive team includes a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Medicine, plus our modern RCVS Nurse Training accredited practice is fully equipped with all the latest equipment including digital x-ray, portable ultrasound, endoscope, VetAir dental machine, capnography & pulse oximetry, Doppler BP, microscope, Idexx in-house laboratory, tonometry & im3 dental radiography unit.

We offer a very supportive practice, with our 2018 and 2019 graduates remaining with us plus we were nominated for ‘Graduate Practice’ of the year. The Graduate programme runs for two years and includes structured CPD (180 hours) to allow development into a well-rounded member of the clinical team.

“Because the whole team, JVPs, Vets, Nurses, Receptionists, have been incredibly supportive in a very hard year with much less than ideal circumstances, they pushed me through, challenged me, picked me up, encouraged me, and helped me find a way into confidence and strength in the job. I didn't make it easy for them at times, due to different educational background, and we had to find ways to make it work together. But communication was always brilliant and I am forever grateful to each and every one of them, no matter where my path will lead. I love them all..”

Person Specification

We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic professional to join our established team of 5 vets in a supportive work environment. Our nursing team of 7 includes 5 RVNs. We expect you to be an excellent communicator and be able to build strong relationships with our clients to enable us to provide a truly outstanding service. The rota includes 1:3 weekends and no OOH/on call.

Excellent salary, generous CPD allowance, RCVS and VDS membership, 28 days holiday per year increasing with service, pension, Income Protection, Life Assurance and Wellbeing Package.
